Wonder if Struble will get benched for the double minor trying to haphazardly join the rush and his lack of speed? Special teams was the letdown vs the Wild, had PP chances and failed and gave up a PPG due to Struble's double minor. Matheson is reasonable for offense, but question his 5 on 5 play. How hard is Matheson's slap shot? Point shots don't work too well if the defense boxes in. Feeling Matheson is not doing enough on the PP and too much passing on the PP (he had over 4 minutes)….keep the plays simple. Wild goale should have gotten interference….that was a long hold.
Thanks Josh
So there were some wild things……,
Habs player pretty well in my opinion. FIrst, I would say that Sam Montembeault was #1 tonight. Second, as you say, refs were more on the side of Wilds but thats also because Habs have created a history of misconduct and lack of discipline since the beginning of the season – thus losing credibliity towards the refs. Four minutes for high-sticking? Not sure if that was fair. I am happy that none of the penalities were initiated by Xhakaj.
Habs did not make too many mistakes tonight, they played well.
Everyone expects that Cole will make his shots every time, but in one occasion, I think that it would have make sense to make a pass to Lane on the side because the Minnesota goalie was 100% focused on him.
The Montreal.Canadians are only training new coaches for future NHL teams.Einstein said doing the same thing over and over again and getting the Same results is Ludicrous.Get an coach that has experience and Not Another Recycled Coach.Does anyone else See this??!!.
Tough loss tonight. But to be expected. Im still proud of our team, we really performed well tonight even with the lost. The entire team showed a high motor game throughout the game (most of the time) so even scoreless its a small small win💀
Dach needs to sit OUT!!! Lack of effort!
I love watching Lane Hutson play. Problem is, so does the team… No one tried to go to the net on that play. He's got no support when he's trying to create offensive chances is seems.
Hutson is making Matheson look obsolete, IMO the Habs should try to move the Math, he is such a defensive liability that hasn't been effective offensively. I don't think he stock price is great at the moment.
One thing that's irritating about Matheson on the PP is that he can't hold the line.
Every time a forward takes a shot that goes wide and wraps around to the blue line, the puck is out, Matheson doesn't get to the boards to prevent the puck from getting out.
Hitson made a few real good plays to keep the puck in at the end.
Hutson on the first PP asap tabarnak.
Matheson looks like he's checked out
The only reason they still don't play Hutson on the first unit of powerplay.. would be to play Matheson to make him produce in order to trade him! Otherwise.. I'm as confused as a Josh..!
I think the reason why Hutson isn't on PP1 is because he's Lane Hutson. How many times has he taken the puck down low doing Lane Hutson things and NOBODY TAKES HIS SPOT DEFENSIVELY! Until the rest of the team adapts to having Lane on the ice it's probably better that he's not on PP1. Just trying to be realistic here, but I see a lot of shorthanded goals against in our future if Lane gets moved to PP1 too soon.
he not french that is why habs do not give him a chance
Newhook will benefit when some of the Roy, Maiiloux, Beck core to move up and shape up pp2 and the bottom 6
Yeah, NHL is becoming IIHF = no or very little fairness and really poor sh.te refereeing, shame. I stopped watching iihf official games years ago because of that, now it comes over to NHL? Ridiculous, the goalie just holding Juraj down like that after Juraj being pushed into him (very clearly) ? WTF ?
My reading is that last game was more open, while this one they closed it because Wild has better offense than Buff. So it limited our best offensive players too, shots from afar were preferred to creative plays as opposed to Monday's game.
But yeah Hutson will be there soon, don't worry about it. I love Matheson really but i think he should be traded for a reliable defensive D.
NHL refs can never be as bad as boxing refs or basketball refs or even Umpires but what they do often is ignore blatant penalties then call retaliation. That kind of garbage refereeing supports dirty hockey be the cheap shot team and come out with the powerplay becuase the other teams retaliate.Thatg is EXACTLY how the habs lost to the Flyers in the semi finals a number of years ago they were called on retaliation often while the instigator got a get out of jail free card.
That was a really nice move by Hutson and I also noticed he was aiming high to the corner so he did everything right but no goal but one great sequence does not make a great game.
Beck, Roy, and Mailloux are studs. They need to move up and show thw big club what winning looks like. Hutson would benefit from those 3!
Promoting to the PP1 for sure, Matheson sucks. Dach away of line 1 and PP1, he’s just breaching Slaf’s and Suzzie’s efforts. I don’t understand Dach’s presence in L1 and PP1.
Owen is not ready for the NHL, he needs 1-2 in the AHL. Roy had couple of NHL games, but nothing impressive just below average. Hehas not hockey IQ, he’s just such a small size of Armia.
Either the refs should have blown the play down right away when the net was off or they should have called interference on Gustavson. I’m sure Slaf would have been in the box if he was holding the goalie down like that. This league is getting worse every year for missed calls. The refs need to start having hearings and getting fined when they take away a team’s chance to score an important goal
Marty playing favorites and mind games with others. Buh bye MSL.
Glad to see you are catching on to Matheson (no matter how skilled he is) being a liability on the PP. If other teams watch tape of our PP they see that Matheson is very predictable on the PP. Whereas Hutson is completely unpredictable. Great show Josh! GO HABE GO!
Beck can't score so I guess he is a replacement for Dvorak.
I know everyone seems to love Hutson but for all his flash what is his goal totals? How many games has Hutson won by his play? Hutson needs to do something with his fun plays as as even Josh points out he will never be a defensive defenceman. He is playing over 20 minutes a game but still not the offense we need.
I thought a net off its moorings was an automatic stoppage.
That hold/interference no call on the Wild goaltender is the most absurd non-call I’ve seen this year after the 3rd man joining Xhekaj/Couturier!! Nonsense that we don’t get these powerplays. And when we do, we have the priviledge to watch Hutson keep the bench warm for exhausted Matheson after he spends 1:42 of the 2 minutes passing the puck around the perimeter and chasing the iced pucks! It’s soooo frustrating to watch!!
HUTSON is all alone this team has no offensive capabilities
I don't get why they are so catering to Mike Matheson, God love him, but he isn't the future. Shifting Guhle on his off wing instead of Mike. Continuing to play Mike on the first PP despite lackluster performances. I understand from St. Louis' perspective he doesn't want to upset the veteran who's coming off a stellar year. It's a tough decision to swap them. If you want to win in this league you have to do the difficult things. On the ice as much as behind the bench. No excuses. The poor record this year is on all 3 parties: management for overevaluating some players and trusting that goalie tandem, St. Louis for his head scratching decisions and usage of certain players and systems, and the players for not executing and lack of effort, fight, heart on most nights.
Time to start making trades…… anyone under 6’0 gptta go! Yes ALL OF THEM!
We are never gonna win the cup with these little guys……. Keep Hutson trade the rest
I really hope the NHL does something about the terrible officiating because it's taking the entertainment away from the game. It's fucking god awful.
Habs are back to the norm. No effort no talent. Most of them seems like dont want to play hockey and lack in talent.
Hutson was great but i see him slowed down a bit because of the team atmosphere.
Hughes and Gorton promised to build an exciting team but so far its most boring team i ever saw in my life.
Hughes and Gorton they have to go before MSL.
I think the habs need to bring up more young players to get NHL experience and part ways with players like Dvorak. We are not making the playoffs anyway so I think it would be great for them to gain experience now to be ready to have a good season next year.
I would also remove Matheson and Dach from the 1st PP unit and try something else
Not confusing at all!!
I would be confused if I saw the refs doing a good job😃
The Habs are confusing to me …One night they look real dangerous…and the next …very beatable ..!!?? Is this because they are so young ..!??? Is this a coaching problem ?? Time to take a deep breathe …and see who will develop into a long term stud …or ..move on from them and bring in those CHAMPIONSHIP players of tomorrow.
One things for sure …this year is basically a right off ..!!
NHL reffs keeps getting more and more a total Joke year after years
People layoff matheson !! What about all the others that are hugely inconsistent ? Suzy, slaf etc
This is on everyone except Lane ,Ghule , Gally .
Has to be the easiest shutout in history for the Wild
NHL OFFICIATING IS GARBAGE.
Beck is more of an NHLer than Roy. He's a high energy centre who can skate like the wind. Roy doesn't have those talents/traits unfortunately. Also, MSL is too stubborn and has too much of an ego to admit that everyone else is right and that Hutson should be on PP1. He needs to go.
Hutson's a forward. Trade MM for a RHD.
