New Orleans Saints Derek Carr Has Best Offensive Advantage Vs. Cleveland Browns

New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr has the biggest advantage of the game against Myles Garrett and the Cleveland Browns defense. But it will be up to the return of Erik McCoy and the skills of Alvin Kamara , Taysom Hill and Marquez Valdes-Scantling in order to maximize it. Denzel Ward and the Browns secondary could be tested in the play action game.

Darren Rizzi and the Saints should be much more focused on winning now than their 2025 NFL Draft positioning later. Could Carr be in the midst of his final season as the Saints’ quarterback with Dennis Allen now ousted.

  1. Head coaches who willingly downgrade at QB never succeed. Literally never.

Carr is very much in his prime, and can play at an elite level. I don't see any HC not wanting to work with him (outside of McDaniels, who thought he could get Brady to join him in Las Vegas and failed spectacularly 😂😂). He lost his job a couple months later….bc his pass game sucked.

Carr will attract a HC, bc they know he will give them a very good chance to win. Having a QB is the biggest piece to the puzzle. Anyone with eyes can see that the saints not succeeding the last 2 years has very little to do with Carr…..hes delivered in most cases, rarely having a bad game (all QB's have bad games. Every single one.). If you can coach the defense to be at least mediocre, and the OL to be at least mediocre…..with a QB like Carr, that's good enough to be a playoff team. Unfortunately last year the OL was one of the worst, the run game was the worst for most of the season, and the defense wasn't good enough to make up for it. One win away from winning the division despite that.

This season, we saw what the team looks like with actual bad QB play. It was blowout after blowout. Carr makes the saints competitive even tho the rest is the team isn't good enough to do that on their own (largely bc of injuries, to be fair).

Run it back. The chance of injury luck being that bad 2 years in a row are extremely low, and just a little bit healthier of a team (plus Carr being healthy), and Saints have a winning record.

This might be a great opportunity to give Kyle a shot at HC. Then Carr and the offense have continuity in said offense, much of the coaching staff won't need to be turned over, and to get a guy who will no doubt be highly regarded as far as HC candidates.

  2. I do agree with you about Derrick Carr being the major factor on our end with Miles Garrett and company on the browns defensive side. I do believe jamies will have opportunities to do something in this game but it's more about their defense against our offense that decides this game and I know or at least see how Carr is against true defenses and that's scary for us but who knows how it will turn out

  3. The OL is young, good and some may be great, I’m excited for this offense and defense is actually young too once they let go of the 3 vets but beside them the whole team is young now
