8. Let the coach make the call. Most will want to eat the cap hit their first year, but I can see Ben Johnson or Kliff Kingsbury thinking they can have a playoff run with Rodgers.

True, no coach is going to want to hear “I don’t know” when they ask about the status of AR, but as usual you are missing the bigger point that NO coach/GM would even want to interview for a job where they would be playing 2nd & 3rd fiddle to the QB who has had the keys to the franchise! They are going to want their own staff and not coaches dictated by a player! They are going to want control over the entire roster and not be told that they have to fill roster spots with AR’s boys. Most of all they are going to want a QB they choose from the draft and/or FA and not be told they have to take AR! Oh lord! You are proposing that ownership tells prospective candidates that “you have played out all prospective scenarios”? Ownership doesn’t determine the direction, the GM/coach determine the direction. The Jets are in a big time bind, with AR cap hit. Ideally they should just move on but that may not be possible. The team would have to guarantee that if AR is back that they will cut ties the following year, and tell the coach/GM hires that their rebuild starts now!
