Seattle Seahawks Just Dodged A MAJOR Bullet

The Seattle Seahawks just had what could be considered a big loss in losing center Conner Williams to retirement from the NFL. Luckily they have a young replacement that few know but will soon learn is ready to play at a very HIGH level. And the timing couldn’t be better as The 49ers come to town.

  1. We’ve been doing this zone blocking experiment for 15 friggin years and the only time it ever seemed to work was when we had Lynch. I chalk that up to Lynch.

  2. The eye test this season had me asking myself how is it that Connor is starting in front of Olu? We did get to see a little bit of Olu last year and preseason this year, Williams doesn't look better. I think he knew it too. But, being the veteran that JS brought in, they were committed to sticking with him. Just like in the situation with Dodson, they were looking at what needed improving across the board, I think Connor was going to start losing practice reps and possibly game time to Olu. Earlier in the week, coach Mac was talking up Olu in his press conference.
Two ingredients needed to beat the niners, stop the run , pressure the heck out of Purdy. Like most QB's, when pressured he is prone to mistakes and coach knows that too. This a must win for both teams, but who's hungrier? And who executes better will win. Last game for the Hawks they shut down Kyren Williams. CMC averaged 3 YPC last week, is he 100%? You mentioned how banged up the niners are, this is a huge factor tipping in favor of the Hawks. If Geno gets a little better protection, he will have a good game. If the Hawks don't get after Purdy, he will have a good game. Probably going to come down to the wire and the team with fewer turnovers will likely win. Hoping it's the Hawks. They're next game is the Cardinals and they would be in position to reclaim the top spot with a win over AZ, who has been playing better, but who have they beaten? Chicago? After getting dismantled by the Commanders, a one point win over SF, blown out by GB, a two point win over the Chargers, a one point win over the Dolphins, then an easy win over the Jets. There's nothing to be impressed by here, they're not as good as their record. Three wins by 4 points total. It's anybodies division right now. The upside potential is with Seattle and SF who are still in the fight, but playing well below their potential as of late. The Hawks had the Rams game, but gave it away with two red zone turnovers and a missed XP. They lost to the Giants on a questionable non called blocked FG. They're a blocked FG and a missed XP away from being 6-3 right now. They have one of the toughest remaining schedules, and as tight as the division is, the playoffs are pretty much starting now for them. Go Hawks!

  3. Olu has pretty good credentials and size, but the tape doesn’t show it. He started one game last year and looked ok. We were lookin for him to take over the Center in training camp, but he was underperforming. Which is why they signed Connor. But,hopefully he takes his chance and run with it.

  4. Olu communicated better than Connor I think,it’s just his strength that’s in question. But hopefully they give the interior Oline some help and try and to get the ball out faster.

  5. Thank god Connor williams woke up and said I am going to do something The Seattle Seahawks organization couldn't do stop playing and that's a good thing. Thank you, Connor Much respect to you for doing the right thing Now let's move on to the best center that this team have in That's olu, shame on the seahawks organization For holding this man back Shame on you, John.

  6. Attention Seahawk Nation:
Imagine where we would be had we used common sense instead of pride when rebuilding this team.
    1) We keep Bobby and Brooks
LB position solved. We add young talent to learn behind them.
    2) we stick with Olu.
    3) Bring Justin Fields in to learn behind Geno.
4)we add talent to the offensive line. Use depth until we develop the young players. Adding the guy from Green Bay & one more like him. We go get a proven line coach!! Preferably the older player and CB tire Hall of Famer we used last year.
    5) bring back Adrian Peterson as our RB coach.
    6) add Richard Sherman to the coaching staff
7)We allow Bobby to play but offer him the LB coaching role in the future.
    8)add Clowney at the edge
    9) our focus is using the TE’s. We keep Parkinson and drop Fant
    10) make a significant impact player trade before the deadline.

These are the moves that would put us in position to sign 3 additional players.

  7. If coach was excited to see him play, he would have inserted him into the lineup after one of the many times Connor sailed the ball over Geno's head or stepped on his foot. Connor either had personal issues or he in fact hated playing for the Seahawks. Since coach said it wasn't about his knee. So now you're trying to convince us that Olu had all these accolades in college but got beaten out by a FA pickup 2 weeks before the regular season started. So either the team failed to identify a hidden gem in their oline room, or decided a gimp would be a better fit to start until he decided to retire. Either way it's not a good look.

  8. Hawks fan since '79 here. Watching Lions FB for several years- last year I became a fan of sorts. This year I figure I can be a fan of more than one team… until the Lions play the Hawks! lol
Olu must be secret squirrel bad, neither Pete nor Mike played the man. I loved his Michigan tape.I liked all his awards coming in too.

  9. No doubt Olu earned all the outstanding recognition via awards in his year at Michigan. Now he's in the pro league where the opposition is MUCH stouter week to week, and (not his fault) he's not surrounded by comparably good performers of the ilk he had working with him at Michigan. Football is about team synergy, not just individual abilities and performance. Relative to the rest of the pro league he's playing with bottom level rated guards on either side of him…………………Baldy called them backup level players, and he knows his stuff. As a Seahawk fan since day one for the team I'm not happy to point those realities out.

  10. Kamala word salad. It’s gonna be a slaughter at the Niners. To expect a Super Bowl run with the current state of new coaching staff and lack of cohesion on the O-Line is ridiculous. Hope for a top 10 pick then trade down for more picks. FIX THE O-LINE

  11. I was disappointed Olu lost his job. Schneider finally did something about the interior line. Like other free agents we signed Williams was coming off injury his a major ACL. His background showed great, but he played pourly. Four different bad snaps in two games. Twice over Geno's head the other two the wrong snap count. The Seahawks wanted to move him to guard he didnt want to. Mike Macdonald said they talked about it, but wouldnt do it. When answering he already knew on Monday Williams was retiring. Our guards are awful Olu will not be the problem. Bradford has the number 1 worst PFF score of any guard. Thomlionson couldnt be far ahead. Nice to have Lucas back i hope he is now healthy cross your fingers as he is a stud
