The other guy is not going to lead them to the playoffs, Richerdson had time to look at the good and bad on film and clear his mind. I think Williams could use the same 2 or 3 weeks off, with all the sacks he really needs to clear his mind and be convinced there is a solution to the sacks. If Richerdson's got problems he will be traded before his 5th year.
Have a feeling that Richardson is going to ball out and show something. Play him the rest of the year and let him ride or die
Should be a fun CF of a game between the Colts and the Jets that can be enjoyed by all as it is absolutely meaningless.
The Colts have no idea what they are doing!
I’m so glad they are starting him hopefully that benching was a wake up call for him I’m so ready let’s goo I’m a die hard colts fan it’s definitely been rough this season can’t wait
“Wow, and what changed?” Exactly
If you actually listened to Shane Steichen’s presser he made it clear: AR wasn’t paying attention to detail in the film room, walk throughs, and weight room.
The benching woke him up.
10 completions on the way 🔥
We suck period its going to take more than a QB to fix are issues 💯
Dude sucked at FL & was a project to begin with. He better start listening & focusing if he plans on catching up.
Joe was never gonna be the answer….
Playing AR or fkavo doesn't really matter….but if you think AE is anything but a bust I don't think you've been watching….no way we waste another year in him after the disaster we are about to see the rest of year
Not sure, but they may be over scheming and putting too much pressure on this kid. Plus, he’s very injury prone.
Going for more losses to get better drafts. AR is trash & he has proven that he can't play. Should have finished college.
What changed?
Flacco was terrible.
He will be injured and Flacco back in
What changed? they realized that the issues with this team are way deeper than simply AR struggling. The offense scored 26 points since the benching. Joe Flacco threw 4 interceptions, 2 fumbles, and took a sack on 4th and inches. averaging 3+ turnovers and 13 points offensively shows that there are deeper issues, mainly coaching.
The tapping out is overblown. sure, it's not a good look, but I guarantee it was a onetime thing. He is a young and inexperienced guy. Knowing his character, he thought he would take himself out of the game because if he wasn't 100% ready to go, it was a disservice to his teammates. Some of the veterans talked to him and Steichen talked to him and let him know it is unacceptable. He is 22 years old, less than 25 starts since high school. He is learning and he learned that lesson the hard way.
Maybe there are some things about his preparation like you said. I couldn't say, I'm not in the building day in and day out. I personally don't think the reason would've been the play on the field, or not entirely. If you watch that Texans game, you can see a lot of positives. He started off hot. Almost every pass was on the money to begin the game, either the defense made a good play, or the wide receiver couldn't haul it in. Sure, he was 2-16 at one point, but that easily could've been 9-16, 3 TDs and 200 yards if his receivers could haul it in/keep their feet in bounds. The pass protection was terrible, and the receivers couldn't do anything. That made AR lose his confidence and started playing a bit wilder. He still was moving very well in the pocket and throwing off defenders, his accuracy felt improved even if the stats didn't show it.
Coaching needs to be highlighted too. AR thrives in RPOs. In that Texans game Steichen called almost no RPOs, especially in the first half. Jonathon Taylor was averaging well over 5 yards per carry in that game, yet he only got 20 touches and had AR pass almost 40 times. You have a running back averaging 5 yards per carry while you have a quarterback with shot confidence and Wide receivers who can't catch, and you decide to pass it almost 40 times? VS the Bills JT had 100 yards in the first half. In the second half, 5 carries for 7 yards. You have a 40-year-old statue who threw 3 interceptions, 1 fumble, and a turnover on downs in that game, yet you don't run to take pressure off him.
As a Colts fan it is very clear to me that Steichen is the biggest tissue with this team right now. our offense is one of the worst in the league right now even though we have a top running back in JT, top Oline, top slot receiver in Josh Downs, and top deep threat receiver in Alec Pierce. Not to mention a reliable number 1 receiver in Pittman (hurt so I didn't mention him before) and a quarterback with off the chart athleticism. I understand Richardson isn't where you want him, but you have the personal to take pressure off him and help his development. You have a quarterback with all the raw physical characteristics you could ever want, plus everything I've heard is he has great character, willingness to learn, and leadership. You as a coach have all the pieces in place to have a top 5 offense, you just are unable to put it together. It is your job to scheme ways for your guys to succeed. you have the talent; you are simply not living up to your end.
Steichen's team so far feels extremely hit or miss. even earlier in the season when we scored more, our offense disappeared for at least 2 quarters every game. We get stupid penalties every game that stalls drives. Play calling has been God awful at times. Guys have dropped passes and missed tackles all year, yet no accountability. The way the AR benching was handled was terrible. Players learning form social media of the benching rather form the team. Trying to hold AR accountable for poor play when Flacco looked worse. Steichen's team so far is very stale, undisciplined, and lacks accountability. terrible play calling, terrible situational decisions, and terrible personal decisions. Steichen has proved he can be a good coach, but how long do we have to suffer through this and wait and hope that he can regain that form?
The benching really feels like a way for Steichen to make AR the scapegoat for his own shortcomings. When AR came out, the offense was even worse than before. In a way it blew up in Steichen's face. You blame your young inexperienced QB, say the vet gives a better chance to win, then your offense looks even worse than before. Sure, Flacco is a better passer (barely after watching he last 2 games), but AR gives you other elements on offense. His deep ball ability stretches the field and his scrambling ability drastically opens the run game. Not to mention AR has only played in 10 games and will continue to develop and get better. The franchise gains nothing by starting a 40 year old quarterback.
Colts crapped on a generational talent and have been paying the price ever since. Karma?
WHAT CHANGED WAS FLACCO LOOKED WORST THAN THE STARTER? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I am rooting for AR. They need to improve the offensive line to give these quarterbacks a little time to get through progressions. The talent is there with AR. He just needs time to develop more! Go Colts!!!
Colts win 23-18
