[Hartung] “What about Walker Buehler coming back to the Dodgers as a CLOSER? He probably still want to be a SP, but I love his makeup, he’s never scared. The way he dominated that 9th inning in the World Series… he was completely fearless!”

They let anyone talk these days
He’s a starter, he’s always been a starter, he wants to be a starter. If he fails at being a starter, then he becomes a releiver. But for now, hes a starter
Not gonna happen. Starting pitchers get paid more than relievers. Even if he’s paid like an “above average” starting pitcher, he’d still probably get just as much if not more than what “elite relievers” are getting.
What a dumb take. Why is it not better if he’s “fearless” and domates that he does it for 6 innings instead of 1?
Why not sign him to start?
He would lose tens or hundreds of millions of dollars if he can stay healthy if he convert to a closer
Porque no los dos? Use him in the 4 or 5 hole, be aware that he won’t perform his best until he’s under the lights and then keep him available as a high-leverage reliever in the postseason.
Shoehei closed out the WBC. Kershaw’s pitched out of the pen. Hersheiser’s pitched out of the pen. Scherzer’s pitched out of the pen. Buehler was nails in game 5.
How about nah dog, give me Butane starting
Bro, he wants to be a starter.
No closers need a good fast ball. Buehler is better as a starter. He is built as a starter.
Who is she? never heard of her?
I keep seeing awful takes about Buehler that completely ignore Buehler’s side of the negotiation. Almost no player is going to opt for moving to relief unless they have no starting option. None are going to take it easy in the regular season to just be a postseason weapon by choice. Especially not a guy like Walker Fucking Buehler. If he can’t get a big deal, he is going to fight to prove himself until his options to do so run out or he proves himself.
definitely something i thought after the ws save. but im a super uninformed baseball fan. (its like my fourth sport)
would love going to a dodger game and always having the chance to see him pitch fwiw

Shit post Sunday I guess.
Based on one inning? I’d expect this amateurish take from Kaylee Hartung, but not from John!
Not to be critical Bueller, but he did get what the 789 hitters out it was awesome, but let’s stop acting like he got the heart of the order.
He’s definitely a “big game “ pitcher. I would have Kershaw a reliever have him coming in the 6-8 or something like that.
People don’t realize that not having a traditional closer basically UNLOCKED Dave Roberts’ bullpen management. It allowed him to play the right matchups at any time. Traditional closers are dumb. Saves are dumb. Walker is a starter. Let it go.
Trust in Dave and Andrew.
It’s that easy to go on tv and do this job huh where do I apply ?
I think the Ohtani as a closer argument is better lol
This is some prime offseason talk. This type of “analysis” makes the offseason draaaaaaag.
No he’s a starter. He can close he’s a dawg but come on now
