[Caporoso] Joe Douglas is now 30-64 (31%) as the #Jets General Manager

  1. 40 years a fan and l’ve seen a lot of misery. A lot of choke jobs and ridiculous penalties at the worst moments.
(Gastineau in the playoffs against the Cleveland Browns in 1986 being one of the first egregious ones I remember). I still enjoyed the games every year and always had some optimism. When the Jets inevitably got eliminated early, I would start scouting all the mock drafts and potential FAs.
This season has really crushed my spirit once and for all.
The owners aren’t going anywhere. The front office sucks.
The coaches suck. We have a 40+ QB and no future plan at the position as usual. Our good young players are working on their exit strategies. I didn’t watch today for the first time in a long time. I’m not doing mock drafts. It’s not even funny anymore how bad this franchise is. Does anyone here have any reason to keep watching this shit?
I’ve never been a gambler, but should I start betting $1000 every game against the Jets? Have a nice evening everyone. I’ll be walking at the beach and not even recording the games anymore.

  2. He’s a dead man walking that won’t be here next year. Should honestly fire him now and get a head start on the new GM search.

Probably will be some FO member of the Chiefs or 49ers is my guess

  3. Just by record alone, this has to be the worst winning percentage by any Jets GM in the history of the franchise right?

  4. Just hope the fanbase learns their lesson from him – no matter how much you agree with the process, it genuinely doesn’t matter until there’s tangible results in the win column.

No matter who the next HC/GM pairing is, don’t crown them until they make the playoffs. That’s the absolute minimum any regime needs to accomplish.

  5. I’m sure Woody or Chris will be able to attract top talent to come and change things. We are a stable organization.

  6. I still think he’s better than Idzik tbh, there’s a reason that two years after we canned him, there was only 1 Idzik draftee left on the roster

  7. I’ve been pointing out how clueless and unaccountable Douglas has been for years and getting downvoted on this sub. Only silver lining for me this season is that we are moving on from this husky charlatan

  8. The GM isn’t the issue. We all agree we have the talent.

The coaching is the problem. They don’t execute. Not under Saleh, not under Ulbrich. You can go back further and further. We are always the most penalized and we can never execute even simple plays. It’s coaching

  9. Such a shame. Was pumped when we originally got him here. Unfortunately he has failed to build the OL, Draft a QB. Just put him out of his misery and just fire him.

Honestly, JD is almost a role model. I wish I could be that bad at my job and have so many people defend me. Truly unbelievable

  11. When he gets fired, there’s going to be some nasty stories that will leak that will start to pass the buck. Oh JD didn’t want Saleh but Woody made him hire Saleh. JD didn’t want Aaron Rodgers but Woody wanted Aaron. Woody made him trade assets for Davante Adams who isn’t good anymore. Woody made JD trade for Reddick and then just decide not to sign him to a new contract knowing a hold out was inevitable even if he stayed in Philly.

Woody needs to sell but JD ruined everything with his shitty team building.

  12. I feel a little bit for JD. He’s drafted mostly pretty well (Garrett Sauce Breece are the cornerstones of the team and were all 1 draft, pretty crazy) and actually rebuilt the line well this year finally.

Those QB misses though were brutal. I never wanted Aaron but even haters like myself didn’t think it would be THIS bad.

  13. Remember when Vegas releases their general picks of who’s favored in every nfl game? The jets were favored in 14 of 17 games.

Do you also remember when people used this as a legitimate reason to extend JD before the season? Because Vegas “favored” the Jets . Hahahahahaha.

  14. Goodbye Joe douglas, you sucked and your record says so. Stop trying to get the assistant gm from a super bowl team. They are assistants and suck at making their own decisions. Jd and idzik provec that. You draft Zach Wilson then get a washed up Aaron Rodgers at the most important position shows that you need t o go fire JD tomorrow and start all over. JD may be the worst gm in jets history and that’s a tough accomplishment. We suck again

  15. Guy has his bags packed. He don’t care. He’s headed for higher ground. What a disaster.

  16. Yea cuz JD let up all those first downs on the last drive and decided to treat Anthony Richardson like Derrick Henry.

  17. Can’t say that Douglas didn’t get a shot. He got the full six year contract, multiple drafts, free agents, a swing at a QB, a HC pick, and he still failed. He just didn’t go a good enough job.

I think he’s a better football mind than his record indicates and he has a future in an NFL FO, but he shouldn’t get another crack as the lead guy, he’s failed at that. Time to move on.

  18. Joe has loaded us with talent. We just can’t convert it to wins. Only mess up IMO was drafting Zach Wilson and hiring Nate Hackett

If LaFluer had a decent QB I bet he would have been a great OC. Offense was cooking when Mike White (who isn’t even in the league) was starting at QB

  19. What more can JD do though? Woody clearly meddles with this team and the coaching is poor. The team on paper should be good.

  20. This is something that had been going on for a while. Some people here and there had success, but because of how good or great they are, they’re masking the problems.

Unless if we get the point where the team changes its philosophy and gets on the path of continued success, the same old shit will happen over and over, despite the pockets of flashes.

It all starts on top, but as Woody won’t sell and as he’s getting desperate to win, the next person in line would be Joe Douglass as well as any of the other management team that may have a say in its operations.

But unfortunately, replacing them may not do the trick as Woody may be the one to hire their replacement. So, it’s a catch-22, unfortunately. And we’ll be the ones who suffer.

Woody has to change his mindset, hire better guys, not seem so desperate and/or, think about the possibility of handing the reigns over to someone else. That is if he doesn’t sell, which I don’t think he wants to do.

Then again, I was surprised when the Wilpons actually sold the Mets. I think Cohen made an offer on the Jets a long time ago but was turned down. I would love it if the Jers played in Queens, perhaps under a dome, so Queens could host a superbowl.

An old kid can dream ….
