2. Skin of his teeth, Skinner. He's had moments right, but overall he hasn't doesn't exuded that confidence for me to be a number 1 goalie for a team, especially the Oil.

3. I don’t think there’s a goalie affordable/available that would make much difference than what we have at the moment. I say we ride Skinner and Pickard equally this season and who’s ever got the better numbers becomes the starter for playoffs, I’ll be rooting for Pickard.

11. People talk like acquiring a goalie in a trade is so simple. Do people realize that the majority of elite goalies are currently playing on the team that drafted them? There's a reason it takes a goalie years to develop to land a spot in the NHL. It's the hardest acquisition in sports. That said, you'd be a complete idiot to trade Skinner, unless you aquire an elite goalie in return, which would never happen. Yeah, he's struggled mightily, but, don't let it fool you into thinking he doesn't have the potential to be a true starter at some point. Again, he's still young, with many more years to grow. Most goalies don't hit their peak until late 20's. Skinner is only 26

16. Olivier rodrigue is playing really well for the condors…I have a feeling that what he did in pre season was bad and I think it was done on purpose so no one would claim him!…he has a 9.29 per cent average!

17. Your problem is defense. Forwards need to defend better, too. Ekholm is really your only proper shutdown D.
    Emberson has not been good. Bouchard is very talented and great in the PP. But he doesn't defend well. Oilers will be fine to make the playoffs, but they need to upgrade defensively if they want to go deep.

19. Defense is a bigger issue then Stu.
    Pickard should start from now on.. Defense needs to learn to shut down incoming rushes. Stay out of the crease let goalie see the shot. Stu has a bad glove hand . Pickard is more consistent.

26. Nepotism is huge in the Oilers management and its a big big problem. Coffey is not a defensive coach. Kevin Lowe is still hiding in the bathroom. They need huge changes but it won't happen with Katz there.

27. If we're going for a new goalie coach I'd try Mike Smith as the replacement. He was a battler. A fighter too. He'd do anything to make a save. Use his face, his butt anything. I seem to recall that Skinner was pretty damn good for us in the playoffs last year. He wasn't the reason we just missed winning game seven. Bobrovsky was the reason for that. Team played outstanding defense in the playoffs last year. Not so good this year. Skinner and Pickard left to themselves all too often. A couple of the parts from last year's defense are now playing elsewhere. People used to rag on Ceci, but wouldn't it be nice to have him back? No comment on Broberg. Letting him go for nothing really, really, pissed me off. He moves the puck up ice better than Bouchard. So now we have holes back there and it shows. Emberson just needs more experience. It seems as if the plan is to break him in slowly. He's not getting a lot of ice time. He's a little on the small side. He's a work in progress. I like the idea of playing Pickard a lot of games in a row. See what we have there. I don't think he's ever had that chance with any of the teams he's been with. If and when it becomes clearly and undeniably obvious that neither Skinner or Pickard is the answer, then we would have to go out and get another goalie. Agree with Patrick on Blackwood. Don't think Bobrovsky is coming to Edmonton any time soon. Nice to dream. One other thing about the Toronto game. Leafs blocked 27 shots. I think a third of them were by Chris Tanev. Almost like he was a second goalie. He's a warrior on defense. No wonder so many teams wanted to trade for him at last year's trade deadline. He would have looked very, very good in the orange and blue. Let's see, we already had Ceci and Broberg. How good would the defense have been if we could have added him, to the mix or someone very much like him? He's the type of player I'd like to see us acquire this year. A defensive defenseman. A right shot Eckholm. I think we must get a player like that. No choice. Not a lot of them around.

28. Leaf fan here. Edmonton can't win with Skinner. Who they should get ??????

29. Skinner was terrible AGAIN against the Leafs. He needs to focus more on being a mentally strong NHL goaltender instead of on his TV commercials and product endorsements. A back-up plan in case Blackwood is not available is Talbot.

30. Stauffer pumped Nurse's tires so much that he got a $9.25M contract. He's now pumping a $10M+ contract for "Brainfarts" Bouchard. Right now he's making the fans wish that the Oilers had kept Barrie and Broberg instead of having to worry about Bouchard's expected massive contract.
