Idk how I feel about this quote
Yikes. This will certainly have a mixed bag of opinions.
We should watch the whole interview before we jump into any conclusions.
For a second I wondered why the team needed acting lessons.
Well yeah Pop can be a hard ass and Mitch knows he can’t just act like Temu Pop. I get it, I don’t hold it against Tre. I do prefer how Mitch doesn’t let them let 4+ minutes slip by when they’re blowing it to call TO
Just keeping it real
This is nothing new. You should have seen the Pop old. Pop has become lenient over the years but he still has his coaching principles in treating players and getting the best out of them.
Mitch is young, he has his own philosophy and he spends a lot of time with players more than Pop nowadays like shootarounds so he understands the players as well in a character level so his approach might be just a result of that too.
He was asked about coaching differences, but the answer he gave kind of feels like when you answer the question you wish you got instead of the one you actually did. He said Mitch has done a great job, but he also said that “you kind of feel like you’re missing your head coach, someone who means so much to us on a day to day basis.”
I think it’s pretty clear he was giving Mitch a compliment without any intention to say Pop doesn’t also do those things.
This quote is gonna get twisted you just know it
This is a nothing burger of a statement.
Absolute nonsense clickbait title. Watch the whole thing. He never said Mitch is allowing to play with more confidence and freedom. He said Mitch is allowing them to play with confidence and move on with plays etc. Never said it is more than Pop or compared them.
It makes sense. They dont have to worry about being put in the dog house if they make a mistake. Having that kind of latitude allows for a better mindset and hopefully better results.
I have heard nothing but good things about Mitch Johnson. I think he has what it takes to be a successful head coach.
Why title this post this? It isn’t even true to the quote you linked to.
I knew when I read this clickbait bullshit that it was that weird spurs reporter guy
This account is clearly a burner of his
Why are you click baiting? Tre said ““Mitch is allowing us to play real confident with a lot of freedom,”
You added the word MORE. You’re that desperate for fake internet points?
