Defense 😍😍😍
Gallagher 👍👍👍

That was one of the most complete game the Habs have played in a long time.
this 4th line is amazing, Heineman is a stud, Matheson was great, Guhle was great, where are the MSL haters at???
Crisp broadcast.
Crisp passing.
Great puck movement.
Great defence.
Monty shutout
This may have been the best game I’ve seen all year.
#WE’RE SO BACK
That’s it les boys
Blanchissage contre les McDavid, ça se prend bien.
*GOOD*
– Habs continue some really good hockey out there. Liked their game last game and this one was better against a good team. Excellent all around.
– Slafkovsky had an iffy game the last one. He was really solid tonight and had a huge role on the first goal. Moving his feet.
– Overall liked the energy. Habs were up for this one.
– Defensively against McDavid it was great. Prime showed a clip of Matheson hounding him. Good stuff from Matheson who had a very slow start to the season.
– Fourth line I liked.
– Xhekaj/Struble very solid bottom pair.
– Monty was really good. You give him some better defense he will make saves. Really big first period.
– Guhle goal off Caufield winning a battle against a much larger player.
– Gallagher 8G. Nothing more. Just having a banger of a season.
– Drumroll please… Christian Dvorak had a nice game.
*BAD*

The Habs playing defense **and** generating offense in the same game, is this legal?

GET THIS MAN HIS TICKET TO THE FOUR NATIONS
This is also the first time we forced a team to pull out the line blender!!
Games against the Oilers are always great, it bring out the best from the players
Another pointless game from McDavid, idk why he has a hard time in Montreal but we’ll take it lol
Love the 200 foot game from tonight. The way they forechecked, dominated shifts in the O zone, everyone chipped in defensively, and the neutral zone system all looked very refined. Sam also looked great, and showed flashes of the #1 he has the potential to be. The overall performance is even more impressive doing this against such a high-powered offence. The learning curve with a young team is being able to do this consistently.
I’d also like to shout out the job done by Marty the last couple weeks. When things looked at their bleakest he never flinched, stuck to his system, and he’s stabilized things quite a bit. Games like tonight show us what this team can be when they come of age. Just keep building and putting in the work every single day, because the foundation is there.
3 out of 4 of the last games had consistent defence. Compared to whatever the hell they did before those games… I am most happy about that.
Our best played game of the season. It’s all starting to come together
Habs WIN!
Boston Lose
Me happy

Yo Dubas you seeing this, you really gonna take Jordan Binnington on team Canada over the Montemwall?
Just for the outstanding defensive performance, this game was sooo satisfying to watch. That McDraital shutdown was beautiful.
Let’s keep Evans.
takeaways in no particular order:
– that’s a really impressive win against a top team for the first 2 game win streak since September, haven’t played that well in a minute, so much fun to watch.
– team defense was really quite good today, really good sticks at the blue line and kept the Oilers to the outside. shoutout to Xhekaj who had a great game and has been playing good defense lately.
– really good job grinding that game out, if we can keep this up, i think we’re starting to see it coming together. MSL wants this team playing grinding playoff style hockey — fast-paced, quick passes, strong forecheck, tough to play against, and pouncing on chances when you can get them.
– speaking of strong forecheck, huge shoutout to the Armia-Condotta-Heineman line, wow what a game from them. Condotta is lowkey making a case for 4C, him and Heineman going around like wrecking balls is a joy to watch.
– Slaf with a really solid comeback game. announcer at one point mentioned MSL’s comment that when Slaf is moving his feet and throwing the body, he’s really effective out there. didn’t get a point on Gally’s goal but it was all him, starting with a great steal and then the critical forecheck to get the puck to Matheson. great energy from him today.
– Guhle with a strong, strong game. hasn’t been playing his best lately but great D and a nice snipe today.
– Caufield playing much better lately at 5v5, fun to watch him take the body on the much bigger Drai on Guhle’s goal.
– Monty, if he can be consistent, could be a great 1G***. deserved that shutout, really locked in today.
– once in a while this team shows flashes of its full potential and there’s hope! add a healthy Laine to this team soon and maybe it won’t be so horrible this year.
Edit: Monty playing centre would be funny, ty egg
Habs were everywhere on the ice and defensively, they were « big » and robust, making the oilers uncomfortable to keep the puck for too long.
Montembeault should moonlight as a F1 description announcer
I don’t know how long its going to last but Gallagher has turned the fucking clock back 5+ years. I’m just going to enjoy it while it lasts, guys bleeds Bleu Blanc Rouge. I know we like to rag on Dvo/Anderson (myself included). But that line with Gallagher is a really effective line.
Crazy solid game from the Habs, few shaky moments but great push and didn’t sit back when they took the lead.
Hutson active as always, incredible stick. Only matter of time he gets one. Defense was solid all around.
Thought the refs missed a few calls on the Habs tonight including a blatant trip right at the beginning of a powerplay for the Habs.
Depressed we have no Habs until Saturday.
Hopefully a sign of things to come!
Killing time with possession in the o-zone sure beats turtling-up in the d-zone!
Great game, and hopefuly this is a finger for everyone doubting MSL, goalies and defense. Things need time, it’s a young team developing.
Starting to believe the big upgrade in defensive structure might actually be real. Whether the players are finally learning the hybrid I’m not sure. But we have 6 very capable defensemen right now and the pairing are all playing well. Arber has really stepped up. And Matheson – terrific game tonight and the last 3. Studly is not an overstatement.
Laine right now watching the team click before his return:

We all need to look back on this performance when we’re back to calling for MSL’s head on a platter and trading everyone away for a bag of pucks.
I think the whole team played the first period like they were a little nervous about being lit up by McJesus and Drai. But as the game went on, they got more comfortable and more confident.
Great game for everyone!
A quick side note: I’m now old enough to have watched the full careers of a few players. When they interviewed Gally in the post game and mentioned he was the longest tenured Hab on the current team, I had a moment. A crazy flashback to seeing him as a fresh-faced kid who forced his way onto the team and into our hearts when we were all ready to embrace Galchenyuk. We all think about the ’21 run being the end of Carey Price and Shea Weber’s careers, but I don’t think anybody on that team would have enjoyed winning that Cup in that jersey more than Brendan Gallagher.
