Dolphins In Depth: Dolphins are inching closer to relevance

The Miami Dolphins are riding a two-game winning streak, and a victory in this Sunday’s road game against the New England Patriots could put Mike McDaniel’s team one game below .500. That would keep Miami in the mix for an AFC wildcard spot, and keep this season relevant. But the Dolphins have little margin for error, and it seems the run game is slipping. Can McDaniel’s team patch the leaks that keep this franchise from reaching its potential? Omar Kelly and Barry Jackson discuss those questions in the latest Dolphins in Depth podcast.

  1. Good things. McDaniel finally adjusted his game. Now longer drives but taking what defenses are giving. Tua better at off-script plays. More players participating versus stars in winning games. Good schedule. England /Jets 3-8. Browns 2-8. Green Bay / Forty-Niners a challenge but in NFC. Houston (6-4) Key game in conference.

  2. Barry – if they keep up this balanced, methodical attack style – you don’t need to grab a QB every few years until you hit a top tier. But most fans watched the last couple years and saw it was so pass heavy and reliant on Tua’s play, and the fact is that if they continued down that path of trying to out-gun those other top flight QBs, Tua just wasn’t keeping up consistently. If they keep doing what they’ve been doing lately and building the team around it, they can win against those top teams in the future.

  3. How do you guys not understand that Dolphins fans want a QB that can win us a playoff game ? No one saying a Josh Allen or Mahomes ! Daniel Jones won a playoff game and Tua chokes in big games not games vs the Raiders of course but show up in a big game Tua ! Hope you can guys can understand that !

  4. I'm supposed to be appreciative of a QB that's 3-3 this year….5-7 in last 12 games? I'm supposed to be appreciative of an injury probne QB that doesn't play well versus good/play off caliber defenses?
What are you guys going to say come December and January if he doesn't play well then? 😂

  5. Omar, the Lions actually have a GM that can draft and identify talent unlike the Dolphins. As long Grier is the GM, they will never be a Super Bowl contender. Those are the facts.

  6. Absolutely disagree with Barry's take about "appreciating what you have". This is coming from the same guy that was pounding the table for the Dolphins to play Tua on the 5th year option! If Tua disappears towards the end of the season (like last year), Dolphins would absolutely be smart to consider drafting a QB in 2025. Who cares about the financial commitments, the Broncos moved on from Wilson and they seem to be much improved!

You think we woulda learned all this from the last time the Dolphins wasted years and with the previous "just good enough" QB…

  7. Barry starting to lose credibility with his Herbert narrative. Tua is better or at par with Herbert. I can make the argument that Tua can run Chargers Offense but i cant see Herbert running this Dolphins Offense.

Burrow is on a losing streek but he gets all the love and so he should cause he aint the problem.

But if Tua loses with 27pts, "Oh Tua cant win a shoot out" 😅

  8. THE LOLPHINS,, WILL ONCE AGAIN,, CHOKE VS. THE BETTER TEAMS LIKE THE 🐃 BUFFALO BILLS,, WHO BEATS ON THE 🐬 🐬 DOLPHINS LIKE A 🥁 🪘 🛢 🥁 😅😅😅DRUM.
