[Chicago Bulls] We mourn the passing of Bob Love, who passed away today in Chicago at the age of 81 after a long battle with cancer.

3. I met him when I was a kid and he palmed my head like a basketball. It was awesome

5. My favorite Bull as a youngster. He was our leading scorer almost every night.

6. A big part of one of the more underrated squads in Bulls history. Was still an ambassador for the franchise well after his playing days. RIP.

7. The 90s dynasty means the world to me. They’re the reason the Bulls will forever have a certain aura about them, even when they’re in the doldrums. But I also have a really special place in my part for the guys who played with maximum effort and pride before Jordan came to town. When the Bulls had no real history, no championship pedigree.

   The Bucks selected him in the expansion draft but told Loge they wouldn’t keep him because he had a severe stutter and couldn’t communicate well. He requested to be traded here. He WANTED to be here.

   He was a three time All Star, three time All Defense, and three time All NBA. They were never able to get past the Western Conference finals, but Bob Love fought like hell to do it. Before the GOAT came to town, Love was our pride. RIP to a real Chicago legend. May we never forget you.

8. I got to meet Bob Love multiple times as a kid through basketball camps and stuff. He was a great guy and one of the Bulls all time greats.

9. We always hear about athletes making an impact in their community but Bob Love took it to another level. He came to my elementary school when I was a kid and made time to speak to every student that came up to him. He will be sorely missed.

17. If you truly know the Bulls and Chicago sports in general, you know Bob Love was a legend and one of the nicest people you’d ever meet. Him and Stomin’ Norm were the stewards of Bulls basketball when I was growing up. You could always catch them at events having a good time.

18. Damn. I went to his retirement ceremony in the old Chicago Stadium and got his autograph when I was a little kid.
