Me thinking that they would fire Jimmy Lake the days following the game.

  1. Honestly think Raheem won’t fire Lake (definitely not in season nor take over playcalling duties) because he knows we don’t have the personnel to do what he wants anyways

  2. There is not the least possible chance that the DC is going to get fired on a 6-5 team with a new HC.

It just isn’t happening and frankly, it shouldn’t.

If I’m going to DC a team with a total lack of pass rush talent, I need to know my HC has my back for a while. In the face of fan protest, I need to know that I have time to build my defense.

I’m going to try and get you wins, obviously, but I can’t promise some shutdown or even top 15 defense without a single serviceable pass rusher. It just isn’t going to happen. If we show that we don’t have that coordinator’s back, at all, what elite defensive coach will want to come here under the same scenario?

Let the smoke clear. Give it time. Maybe Lake needs to be fired. Now is not the time.

  3. Blank doesn’t fire early, or even at the correct time. History shows he waits and waits for this “family” thing. And then goes disappointed parent and basically does it because he’s had to.

  4. Firing a guy who had 4 corners out by the end of the 1st and no pass rushers would be wild work. We have a personnel issue to solve before we go changing schemes. Sure you could say change the pass rushing scheme but when you don’t have any good pass rushers outside of Grady 3 games a year.
