Rays: Current stadium deal halted, but team is ‘ready to work on new solution’

This feels like the team is guaranteeing the outcome of the vote. There is no reason for the two new commissioners to vote yes on the bonds when the team is making inflammatory statements like this. Why the hell is the team actively antagonizing the commissioners like this?
Here to stay… sure bud
Can someone give a tldr I’m not paying to read this
This vote isn’t necessarily the important vote. The important vote will be whether the city decides to repair the field or just demolish it in the entirety.
You can also bet that county and city counsels are examining The letter for any possible legal ramifications.
Also the interesting part of the document:” any and all willing partners to preserve the future of Major League Baseball in Tampa Bay for generations to come,” they signed off.“
This has three primary ramifications:
1. It raises the chance of re-engagement with Tampa and Hillsborough County.
2. Means they are open to potentially talking with other members of the Pinellas county commission.
3. Sets up the initial Stage for any potential relocation.
It is important to note that just because they are talking with a local municipality or government does not mean it is guaranteed they are relocating or staying in that specific area. Just because they may talk with Tampa does not mean they are moving to Tampa.
Montreal Devil Rays back on the menu
My best guess is that this season will have a different vibe to it being in Tampa. The smaller venue will make it a trendy must see event in Tampa. If they’re even competitive that will increase the vibe more. And when that happens, the powers that be will make a stadium happen in Tampa. Rays ownership is basically telegraphing that in their statement.
It’s like the old saying out of sight out of mind. Well with the Rays as full-time guests of Tampa this season front and center, that might be enough for deep pockets in Tampa to get something to happen, somewhere. Hell maybe even over by the Ray Jay.
If that happens, where do Rays play until it’s ready? I don’t know that they go back to St. Pete unless FEMA is paying for those repairs through Public Assistance funds.
