Our amateur scouts are doing great… but DAMN talk about some of the nepotism/“getting your buddy a job!” We really need to clean house and stop being Stevie Ys good ole boy club.

Dude hired his own brother.
They need to clear out their pro scouting team. I don’t really have too many issues with the amateur scouting and development.
It’s always been about relationships in sports management. I think Stevie Y is doing a good job when it comes to building the team, and I don’t think these lads are bad at their jobs. The issue is Lalonde. If Lalonde could get anyone to play as good as they can it’d be nice, but now no one does.
And Stevie Y wouldn’t have gotten any criticism for the contracts if Compher, Copp and Chiarot played like they did in Avs, Rangers and Habs. It’s up to Lalonde to have them play the best hockey as they can and he’s clearly failing.
It hurts my head sometimes imagining all these retired old boys dicking around in business casual and tring to get MS Excel to work.
The pro scouting group needs a serious re-evaluation. Basically every UFA this team has signed has been bad. The “nerd” team in the FO also seems suspect.
Dan Kosinski should be fired simply for his haircut
I have 0 issue with hiring people you know. If you know how they work, think, and handle things…know the comparability…the like-mindedness…..all these things are assets. A team working as one is only an advantage.
The problem only arises if you’re hiring somebody only because you know them, and not because they can do the job. If they can do both…great. If not, find somebody else.
Yzerman hasn’t had any real draft failures. His picks have matched up pretty well with where they were drafted…some maybe even exceeding that. The problem has been at the pro level. Some poor trades and even poorer free agency signings. And it’s ok to gamble on players, sure Copp had a decent year, maybe he could repeat that. But gamble on that either by overpaying on a short term deal or getting a deal long term…instead we keep handing out these overpaying long term contracts tracts and totally handicapping our salary cap. We’re a team at the cap ceiling with very little real talent depth…a team with 5 people who are 3rd pair at best defensemen and a what 5 centers (compher, Copp, kasper,Ras, Velano) who are all better suited for 3rd line or 4th line, and no real #2 centers in that bunch. Our team is stacked with 3rd line talent and 3rd pair defensemen…and desperately lacking in 2nd line/d-pair talent.
Yep, one of our biggest issues for a long time now. Need some new blood with a fresh perspective.
It’s also funny to me that it seems like your position on the staff depends on how good you were in your career as a player.
LOL YOU DIDNT EVEN MENTION CHRIS YZERMAN DIRECTOR OF PRO SCOUTING
