Throughout the first eight games of the latest Washington Wizards losing streak, Coach Brian Keefe has often sought silver linings amid a rebuilding season.

He found none in the ninth and delivered blunt critiques of his team's subpar competitiveness.

  1. I don’t think some of the vets are helping the situation. Team was gonna lose, but the games were enjoyable to watch when Kuz/Brogdon were out earlier on.

  2. Can’t help but feel like our rebuild is a lot like that of Arsenal in the Premier League.

Right now we have a mix of vets and very young talent. The new head coach is trying to instill a new playing philosophy which the young guys are getting behind, but there are some vets that are just a bit past their prime (Brogdon / Lacazette), and a vet who is having trouble embracing the new style of play (Kuz / Aubamayeng).

Kuz isn’t nearly as much of an issue of the court as Auba was though. Hopefully Kuz plays well enough for us to move him by the deadline and open up more minutes for the young guys.

  3. I don’t know if it’s a lack of competitiveness as much as they’re just outmatched.

And this breakneck pace with inexperienced players and gunners like Kuz and Poole doesn’t lend itself to high IQ basketball.

  4. At one point last night he had all the vets out there and they didn’t do Jack to stop the knicks from getting whatever they wanted.

  5. Not because I think he’s a bad player or anything, but brogdon coming back into rotation seems to have thrown the offensive chemistry for a loop, if you have a bunch of poor offensive outings, it will negatively impact your defense if your only playing defense all game.

  6. Every time this team starts being an ounce of fun to watch, Kuzma takes a bad shot.

And the defense is so bad it’s disgusting. I know Kuzma and Poole aren’t good defenders anyway but they’re just standing around on that side.

  7. Kuz shoulda been traded last season or this offseason….. front office just been sitting on their hands fr fr I LOVE KUZ but we gotta let the young guys ball up. Went to a couple games when kuz was out and seeing Starr, bilal and the rest of the young guys hooping was actually fun even if we lost the game.

  8. If you go into a match up knowing you’re overmatched game after game it tends to lower morale and in turn lessens effort. It doesn’t matter how many millions the players are paid it’s human nature

  9. There was a lacklusterness and lack of urgency with the way they played at New York. I felt no energy or joy. Another thing is it’s making the younger fellas defer to the older ones. Kyshawn always passing the ball. Never takes shots now. Bub can score more and he’s efficient but hes more aggresive when the older players are out. Kispert annoys me on defense. Sarr lacks physicality and we are young and I believe he’s too skinny to be a C. We are being out physicalled when Jonas isn’t there. We are bound to lose games just giving the youngs experience but we play with more energy and pop when it’s just them out there.

  10. Kuzma and Brogdon need to be let go. Kuzma is a selfish player who’s only interested in boosting his PPG numbers. He doesn’t pass, doesn’t play defense, & is a turnover machine. Obviously Brogdon is coming back from injury but the team needs to let the young guys run the floor with Poole as the leader.

  11. When Kuz was out, it felt like the team played with a lot more competitive fire. Like everyone else here, I think he needs to go! I also think Keefe is not doing enough to help this team build an identity on either side of the ball. We remind me of Houston before they got Udoka. We’re hooping like an AAU team. These last few games have been horrid, and I think we need to clear out these vets and go all-in on youth (including JP for now). Give Bilal the keys, and let’s see what the rooks can do.
