[Grant Paulsen] Talking to @VogsCaps right now, who traveled back with the Caps from Utah last night. Vogs said he’s hopeful that Ovi avoided a worst-case injury based on how Ovi came off the ice. Confirmed that most don’t know his status just yet. “He’s hobbling around. He was on crutches.”

Dude this is a terrible update
I feel like I’m going to have to mute this sub until I see something confirmed on ESPN or similar. Way way too much speculation that just drives up anxiety lol
Lost me at “Grant Paulsen”.
EVERYTHING they do with injured players is precautionary with an injury like that.
Fractured fibula. Optimistic estimate is 2 weeks based on pain tolerance. Could be a couple months.
Geeeez
I’ve heard it’s a hairline fracture in his leg. Probably best over an McL to heal but better long term for Ovi.
No one has said 4-6 weeks so far. It’s Ovi odds are he’s made of metal and just needs a repair. I expect a few weeks out.
Crutches because you don’t want to worsen any injury. More evals tomorrow to allow for initial swelling to go down.
Losing Ovi for any time is not good. Protas, Strome, and McMichael are off to hot starts. That depth could help soften the blow. The Caps would have been hosed if this injury had happened 3-4 years ago.
