There’s no way guys like Malik and Wandale have no idea why he’s been benched. They are still running wide open
I mean, what’s he supposed to say? Jones may be hot dog water nowadays but he’s ben a starter/prominent figure in the locker room for years now, of course some veterans are gonna have his back.
Seems like players trying not to be dicks. Jones is clearly not the answer everyone knows this

I mean its likely most of the team and certainty Dex who has been with Jones his entire time with the Giants genuinely like Daniel Jones the person and teammate. Do they also know he hasn’t been good enough and his run as a starter had to come to an end sooner or later. Yes of course they did but Dex is not going to bad mouth Jones.
Everyone knows what’s going on but because Daboll gave some weak ass “trying to find a spark” answer now the media has free rein to grill the players on it. Have some stones, call it like it is.

To me, it’s not that literal, of course they know Jones isn’t playing well.
Lawrence is basically saying the players don’t understand how benching DJ for Tommy Cutlets is going to help the team win. That’s all that matters to them.
Not sure how the coaching staff tried to sell that choice, but sounds like the players weren’t buying it. How could they?
I know everybody on this sub hates DJ but my heart genuinely breaks for him. He’s never been the main issue with this team but has bore all of the criticism without complaint. All of his teammates and coaches would say that he’s the hardest working on the team. That he’s the first to come in and last to leave the facility. He never had the support he needed (solid O-line, WRs) until his 6th year in the league but the NY atmosphere had already broken him down by the start of this season. Some people will never have empathy for him because of his contract but it’s obvious that he loved and gave everything he had to this team and tried his hardest to win. He wouldn’t have taken 200 hits in 5 seasons and spent most of his days training and studying film at the facility if he didn’t genuinely care about building a successful team. And now a new QB will be benefitting from all of the labor he put in and the pain he endured in order to wait for his offense to be built. Some of you still won’t care after reading this but I just needed to get this off of my chest.

As a side note Sexy Dexy was on track to have the best DT/NT seasons ever but sadly we won’t get that this year. Next year he’ll be smashing records.

The most tragic thing about Daniel Jones is that you can see everyone wanted so much for it to work out. Hard working guy who’s been maligned since he was picked. You could see his teammates, his coaches, and even us fans wanted him to work out. In the end he never could elevate his game to where it needs to be. Being terribly unclutch does not help either but shout out to DEX for sticking with him since day 1
I get that he’s not supposed to say it, but this pervasive culture of delusion is absolutely symptomatic of how this team has been run for the last decade. Can we just fucking say it out loud?

He is their friend and their teammate. The writing is on the wall, but the core guys always seemed to like Jones, a lot. Saquon, Slayton, Dex, Thomas, shep. They have always had his back. He is a shit quarterback but a good leader and a good teammate, that’s the way it has always seemed at least. Wouldn’t want or expect to hear any of our players shit on their friend at the behest of sports media. Look forward to putting the DJ era in the rear view, I hope the team doesn’t have to go through this routine through the end of the season
