Reds popular pick among MLB execs to ‘make noise’ this offseason in new ESPN poll

  1. On a noise scale of fireworks on one end and cat throwing up in the next room at the other, where are we landing?

  2. I’ll hold off of how many grains of salt I take with this until Thursday when we see who they tender or cut loose.  If they clean house, then maybe the Castellinis go nuts with a bunch of high dollar moves we will all regret in 3 years.  J/K (I hope)

There’s always 2 to 3 teams that agents and media try to convince everyone, including other baseball execs, are out there looking to go big to drive their clients price up.  Reds are in a spot to make a pretty convenient boogeyman this time around in the middle of the market, along with the Nats and the Royals.

So not really surprised to hear it.  Know that if the Reds don’t make a big splash, this was all agent speak.  Don’t go blaming Krall for not meeting up to the expectations of reports like this.

  3. I mean, they brought in multiple guys last offseason. Two out of three people they signed to multi-year deals sucked ass.

I hope they have it in them to suck it up and spend a bit more, but I’m afraid we’re in the “regret phase” year of the cycle of the Castellinis actually spending any notable amount.

I’d love to see them sign or trade for someone who can stand in the outfield, be competent, and hit baseballs at a respectable level. But I don’t see it happening. Especially not with the built in “Tito is still getting his guys in place” excuse for this year.

  4. Hello?! Juan Soto?

Yes its me! … “please leave a message after the tone.“ beeeeeeep

Oh, screened again. Hey i guess this is the reds trying. Year after year.

The bums wont spend money on proven talent. BUY GOOD PLAYERS PLEASE! at least a couple for crying out loud!! Im begging for one winning season with playoff baseball

  5. Who knows, they might go and surprise us. Understandably they weren’t spending when we were rebuilding. Now we are trying to be competitive so there could be something to this.

  6. I have full confidence that they’ll sign a mid tier free agent to a 2 year deal with an opt out clause, I’m not sure what noise that is

  7. The Reds do have a bit more certainty on how the TV money will flow for some years – they’re not wondering when their contractual partner will go bankrupt anymore. As part of that deal, it’ll be far easier for someone to casually tune in and get interested.

It would behoove them to win some damn games, in April if not before. There’s more of a money-making moment to be had than there has been in a while, so maybe investment is possible.
