Klapich: Yankees ‘encouraged’ by Juan Soto response in face-to-face meeting; Hal 100% committed to competing with Cohen and assured Soto of roster upgrades

  1. I think Hal understands that losing a bidding war to the Mets over their superstar player would be a really bad look on the franchise

  2. Hal did make it very clear when we were chasing judge that he does recognize when he wants to the value of certain players

  3. Re-sign Soto, add Walker and strengthen the pen. Go nuclear Hal just like your father before you.

    Go full Death Star

  4. The assurance that Hal isn’t gonna just call it an off-season if they re-sign Soto after a bidding war with Cohen is the big news here. I fully expected (and still kind of expect) Hal to close his wallet once he drops whatever it takes to keep Soto.

  5. It’s amazing how much Hal gets it and Cashman doesn’t. God forbid if Cashman was the owner of this team we’d be in last place every season. Remember Hal is the reason 99 is still in pinstripes.

  6. I am also 100% committed to competing with Cohen when it comes to spending money. I can’t promise that I’ll win, but I’ll definitely compete!

  7. Unfortunately he can’t really go toe to toe with Cohen if Cohen actually goes full mad man here, if he outbids Hal it better be a detrimental amount for their future

  8. The amount of reporting I’ve seen today. Is this is how the 49ers fans felt with Brandon aiyuk? This has to be a million times worse. This sucks

  9. Hal understands the bottom line and he saw the kind of revenue a player like Soto brings along with deep playoff runs.

It’s different than how George thought but it’s starting to become similar in a weird way

  10. I love the idea that Hal promised other moves..what I want to hear that even just bringing Soto back is not enough

  11. With all the season tickets they sold for playoff ticket rights this year, they better use that money. I think that tasting the WS and how much money comes with it, he sees the big picture.

  12. Yes, Hal isn’t as rich as Cohen. He’ll feel this expense in a way cohen wouldn’t.

BUT: They make $650M+ in revenue every single year.

He could sell the franchise for $10 billion if he wanted to.

    Figure it out.

  13. DJ read this and felt individually called out… sent a text to Boone to which Boone replied: I got you boo, you’re our stating 1b.

  14. After the whole world watched us embarrass ourselves in the World Series we need to make a statement.

  15. All for resigning Soto but how does one make roster upgrades on top of a 600 million dollar man
