Juan Soto, a highly sought-after free agent, has been at the center of speculation regarding his potential contract offers, with the New York Mets reportedly, making a significant bid. According to various reports, the Mets have proposed an initial offer to Soto that could be around $660 Million, as suggested by former MLB Player Carlos Baerga, though such figures are often met with skepticism due to the unprecedented nature of the sum for an athlete. The Mets’ interest in Soto is driven by their owner Steven Cohen’s willingness to spend heavily to secure top talent, aiming to make the Mets competitive for years to come by offering a deal that might exceed what other teams are prepared to match, emphasizing their commitment to building a championship caliber team. However these numbers are speculative and subject to change as negations continue. Paul Skenes, t he Pittsburg Pirates’ ace, has clinched the 2024 National League Rookie of the Year award, showcasing a phenomenal debut season in the Majors. Selected first overall in the 2023 MLB Draft, Skenes made his MLB Debut on May 11 and rapidly ascended to stardom, finishing with an 11-3 record, a 1.96 ERA , and 170 strikeouts over 133 innings, which was the lowest ERA for any rookie with at least 20 starts since 1920. His dominance was such that he was selected to start the All-Star game for the NL, a rare honor for a rookie, and he edged out competitors like Jackson Merrill of the Padres and Jackson Chourio of the Brewers to secure the award, becoming only the second Pirate to win Rookie of the Year after Jason Bay in 2004.

  1. He can't play defense…I wo der how many runs he gave up on his crappy defense and base running ability lack of….I bet u it is more then his hrs….why pay this dude this kind of money? It's insane

  2. Half of y’all are obviously not aware of Juan Soto stats. He’s younger than Ohtani. When he arrives to the same age of Ohtani he will have much better than stats than him. I don’t care if he doesn’t pitch he is going to be the best hitter of our time when it is all said and done.

  3. The Mets clearly doesn’t understand the Financial aspect of the ohtani deal, Soto coming to the Mets is not gonna be the same on the field or in the revenue cohen is just obsessed with blowing money

  4. Dude the Dodgers shortchanged Ohtani. 700M for a good pitcher, a great hitter and the 7th most famous athlete in the world and MLB’s most marketable star.

Meanwhile the Mets are overpaying for Soto. 🤦‍♂️

  5. Hey any team foolish enough to give Juan Soto what is basically Ohtani money for an elite+ bat but not much else, have fun paying that bill. At least Ohtani has the pitching arsenal to be an ace.

  6. Mets have the definition of fu money. Do they can do what they want. However Ohtani is a completely different contract, as the monies to be paid to him come from the windfall that is Japan.

  7. I would never give a contract like that to Juan Soto! Yes he has talent, but he doesn’t come off as a leader. If you want to win championships your best player has to be a leader.

  8. Don't be shocked for Orioles as dark house for Soto. New owner is 5th richest in baseball (still $4B vs Cohen's $21B though), he's born and raised in Baltimore, and said he wants championships much sooner than later bc he's 75 and probably not going to be around in 20 years. His words, not mine. They could also sign players in order to have extra prospects to trade for someone like Crochet. Burns is SoCal native, think Orioles can retain but if wants to be closer to home and Dodgers provide that option, literally no way to compete with that.
