Low event hockey was a thing way back when Z was still playing

  1. Problem is we got low events from our offense but opponents got plenty of events, shots and goals on our defense…

The low event hockey only works against us.

  2. Omg I love that you dug this interview out. Tripp has Michigan roots and has interviewed a lot of Red Wings personalities, from Mickey to Kenny to Paul Boyer the equipment manager (which is a great interview).

His interview with Paul Maurice is also really excellent.

  3. Z’s peak was during one of the hardest eras to score in league history for reference. Fewer goals were being scored and it was even more important to play good defense.

  4. Playing to try to not lose (and losing because their offense is better than our defense) is different from playing to win (score more than they do)
