[Kennedy] Remember when people were suggesting Caleb Williams was broken and should be sat down? PFF’s fourth highest graded QB this week – 85.2 2 BTTs, 0 TWPs, 76.5% adjusted CMP% This sequence on the final drive was insane. Keep the ball in his hands.

Consider Caleb Williams

And then our moronic coach shat himself.
About 45 seconds left after Keenan catches the ball. We had one timeout and we ran one more play. Mahomes or Rodgers wouldve ran 3 plays in that time.
The Waldronite Loyalists looking pretty silly right now.
My head canon is the Bears FO has fully balkanized, hoping it makes the rest of the season more enjoyable.
We’re absolutely rolling…
Flus: “let’s drain the clock and go for a 47 yard FG!”
I liked his game. At the same time I also don’t think it was anything near great. Lot of easy stuff, few nice passes, an ugly miss
If that was the 4th best QB game of the week, QBs are having a miserable time or PFF really struggles to grade QBs properly. Perhaps a combination of both
I winced when he went down field to Odunze on 4th down. I’m so used to when Mitch and Justin would try for a deep ball on 3rd and 3, overthrow, and then punt. But instead, great throw, great catch.
I’ve seen enough from Caleb to know he’s a good piece. He’s only going to get better with experience. The key is to make sure he doesn’t go on extended slumps or gets hurt.
What we need are pieces in the trenches and better in-game decision making ability
I didn’t think he was broken, I thought we were about to break him. If we kept giving up 5+ sacks each week, better to sit him and let Bagent take the beatings so we didn’t ruin another QB before a proper OC could get in here.
The least defensible part is last week Caleb limps off on the last play of a game we couldn’t win and Flus justified it as “getting reps in for the 2 minute operation”. Then this week he reverses course and turtles up and takes the ball away from his quarterback when he’s rolling and feeling good.
It was a good drive, but he stepped into two to begin the drive. Wanna see him get the ball out. The best qbs will find ways to throw those away and not take the sack.
If a couple of those top rated receivers worked half as hard as 18 does we’d be 7-3.
2, 13, & 14 can all find the door as far as I’m concerned.
Not enough people are talking about Keenan Allen costing this game before we ever even got to this drive. Williams was moving the ball the drive before and should’ve had another first down, in Packers territory, with less than 4 minutes left.
It was nice of them to end the video when they did
Remember all the “Sit Caleb for Bagent!” Get real lol.
Remember all the “Sit Caleb for Bagent!” Get real lol.
rewatching this makes me so fucking mad. Caleb starting 1-0 against them after a clutch game winning drive just for our scared HC to blunder in the final moments again.
The only one saying that Caleb should be benched was Travis Bagent.
How did we not that game smh
The narrative around Caleb is crazy different if Eberflus didn’t mess up the Commanders and Packers games.
It was always stupid. To me, unless you have a true starting QB on the roster, you need to play your rookie and let them learn what they can and cant get away with in the NFL. You also have to be patient when they make mistakes.
Theres so many things these guys can get away with in college that will never work in the NFL and how are they going to learn unless theyre getting reps or have a really good coach?
Caleb is fine. His line is still fucking awful. There’s almost nothing we can do about that for this year, other than pray we don’t kill him before we get to the offseason
I’m for Caleb but this is silly. The Giants subreddit probably made similar posts about Daniel Jones…
We scored 19 points, don’t act like we set the world on fire. It was better than it had been the last 3 weeks for sure. But if we had more touchdowns then we would not have had to kick that damn field goal.
Yeah anyone calling to sit Caleb needs their head examined.
The only way I’d sit Caleb is if we had a strong veteran QB room. Caleb seems open to learning and growing, unlike Fields was with Dalton and Foles.
But our QB room consists of Tyson Bagent, who’s at best a journeyman QB, at worst a lesser Fields.
Nobody seriously suggested this
I’ve seen more from Caleb this season than I have from Trubisky or Fields in terms of potential, and I was a huge Fields fan. Caleb has led 2 4th quarter comeback drives (that the coach ended up losing for him), had over 300 yards in a game 3 times, and has thrown over 300 yards twice in only 10 games so far of his career. The dude just has it and I cannot wait to see how he looks in year 2 with an entirely different coaching staff.
People are way too reactionary these days. After the Jags game it was “Caleb is for real/ has arrived” to he’s a bust less than a month later.
Oh no. A rookie QB has ups and downs. Weird
Bruh
thats about all ive been able to say since walking out of the stadium after that. I just cant with flus.
Nobody actually said he should be benched tho
It was some bullshit rumor that Bagents dad said to ESPN 1000 and now the whole world is still running with it
It’s pretty cool hearing Brady get hyped when Odunze makes that catch on 4th down
That really doesn’t change my opinion much.
We said the same thing for Trubisky and Fields after they had decent games that were otherwise thrown away.
I don’t think that anyone has really looked at Caleb this year and been amazed overall. But he has had some decent games, as well as some really bad games.
Cooper Rush threw for 354 yards against the Texans. Williams? 174. Bust.
