3. I know Doug reached out to Monty in the offseason but he was still under contract in Boston. I can’t see us firing bannister to continue to pay him, and then go get Monty as a higher price. Doug has said the roster isn’t in a place to get an elite coach to push them the 2% more to make them a contender. They’re further away from that. Not saying I like bannister necessarily, but I don’t think Monty really improves our underlying poor lineup.

7. Would not be shocked if he’s hired as an advisor of some sorts for the rest of the year – they miss the playoffs and have an easy out on Bannister between Julien/Montgomery

8. Unless Montgomery is drinking again (and I say that in seriousness, relapse is a real thing), I think we’d be fools not to go get him if he’s interested. Bannister isn’t taking our team anywhere, nothing special with development. Who cares if ownership has to pay bannister not to coach. What the young guys could learn from Montgomery is more than worth the cost.
