  1. Hate to say I told you so but we all saw it coming. He's the sacrificial lamb. It was just a matter of time. BUT….its all on the players….Monty doesn't play the frickin games!! Players too frickin oversensitive too…..can't take criticism like a man!!!! He'll land another gig!!!!! Heh Kent Hughes…..how about bringing Monty to Montreal!!!!!

  2. …and there's also that Swayman stuff that Friedman felt a need to comment openly on yesterday. We wondered about it all during the negotiations. And there's that…"can't plan for a lack of juice" bit. Is there more to it? One analyst claims they are out of shape. Is that why they can/have not outworked their opponents this year? Taking lazy penalties typically comes from a tired team. How are they doing with those 45-second shifts? They're not as slow as they show. Bigger is not congruent with slower- that's a fallacy. But being out of juice will get ya there!

  3. He deserves to be fired but, not his fault Don and cam should be fired. There’s something going on in the lockeroom, I’ve heard a lot of people say Marchand doesn’t like swayman and internal mess.

  4. The players need to sack of and work harder. All cams fault. This organization needs a new direction, and it's not from somebody who stuck in the old ways of hockey

  5. Coaches who go far have a ton of pressure to do better and maybe just maybe they are under so much pressure they loose perspective of the team and get want to do the same things again but harder and players simply don't agree especially after adding different players. Idk but so many coaches don't change with new players and seems they don't adjust for those players and instead expect them to be who they replaced.

  6. Remember Sweeney (and/or Neely) traded 5 draft picks, including two first rounders, for a short rental of Orlov and Bertuzzi. And botched the goalie situation, resulting in having to overpay Swayman. Jim Montgomery might not be the best coach, but it's hard for any coach to win, if management isn't supplying a competive level of talent.

  7. As much as I dont root for anyone to be fired, I hope this firing resonates with Steve Yzerman & Derek Lalonde.

In terms of Yzerman I simply mean now that another organization has pulled the trigger at this point of the season it really takes away his ability to call for patience & say it is too early to go that route.

For Derek Lalonde if this doesn't light a fire under his behind he has no business being a head coach. I dont know how he can see a more proven coach with greater accomplishments than his own get fired and think he is safe.

To this point in Lalonde's tenure he does not inspire confidence that he is capable of righting the ship before all hope is lost. He never seems to inspire or motivate his players to play better.

Unfortunately for Lalonde & the Red Wings they are playing in a city where the baseball team had a .2% chance at making the playoffs with 6 weeks to go but they defied the odds.

A city where it had been 30+ years since the Football team won a playoff game. While winning 2 playoff games was huge the greater accomplishment has been the culture change that the organization has gone through after 50 years of futility. Now they have a team that doesn't single play off , with a team motto of about playing with Grit. The same moniker the baseball team embraced. And now the city has a basketball team that just under a year ago didn't win its 7th game until February that is playing with the same intensity as the baseball & football team. So much so that win 7 occured Monday. While the Pistons are still light years behind the Tigers & Lions they aren't taking games or plays off.

The Red Wings tried to spin the near miss of the playoffs as progress but was actually a total collapse. They tried to tell those growing impatient this past off season was going to represent a sea change. So far it has been lackluster, sloppy & undisciplined hockey with no signs of progress or evidence that things are different.

  8. For whatever reason there was a conflict between the coach and player leadership. The Bruins are a more talented team this year than last, I fully expect the ship is righted and a winning season and better playoffs lie ahead..
