Matty Ice is one of the GOATs for the falcons. Change my mind..
I was always so frustrated by our fan base for how much hate was thrown his way. He’s the best we ever had and possibly may ever have.
The falcons never even had back to back winning seasons until Matty Ice came along.
Definitely the Falcons GOAT.
I moved to Atlanta in 2014 and I was so shocked the first time I went to a sports bar and heard how much folks hated him. I wasn’t even a Falcons fan at the time and I just felt like folks didn’t know how shitty it is when you DON’T have a Matt Ryan.
No offense to y’all but I didn’t take him for granted for one moment. He’s our GOAT. He’s the only jersey I’ve ever purchased with a name on it, all my other ones are blank. The MR haters are completely insane people.
Calgary based fan here (in Canada). The Calgary Flames from around 2000-2012 were just like the Falcons from 2010-2016.
Jarome Iginla was an incredibly special, MVP caliber player and leader. Made the Stanley Cup Finals and lost in heartbreaking fashion, albeit earlier in his tenure than Ryan going to the Superbowl.
That set the table for me to completely appreciate Matt Ryan. I read so many comments on this (and other message boards) that he was the problem and I just completely, whole-heartedly disagreed. But I used to lurk more back then.
Let’s all remember this when Penix balls out for 15 years and we get 4 Superbowls. 🙂

I hate to hear that anyone ever disliked Matt Ryan. He’s a legend in my eyes. His jersey is the one I wear to Falcons games, no contest.
