[Passan] The Chicago Cubs are acquiring right-handed reliever Eli Morgan in a trade with the Cleveland Guardians, sources tell ESPN. Morgan was 3-0 with a 1.93 ERA last season and has a 3.23 career ERA in 173 innings as a relief pitcher.

  1. Good to see Jed not waiting to get some much needed bullpen help. Hopefully, this is a sign of the much needed urgency he’ll need to have this offseason if he wants to keep his job.

  2. Looks like the return is an unnamed A-Ball player so no one good. Seems like a solid deal for a good reliever with 3 more years of control.

  3. I gotta be honest, three of my favorites on the team (Yan, Morel and Wisdong, I like an underdog I guess) are now gone and that sucks but I do get it from a baseball perspective. Makes me sad, guy had elite vibes and seems to be a really good guy.

  4. Would be incredibly surprised if it’s not Canario, unless he’s the lefty smasher that Wisdom was supposed to be?????

  5. Guards fan here, Eli is decent. Can be a little inconsistent at times but has done alright in higher leverage situations before
