Not yet 20 games in, Islanders are stuck in NHL’s mushy middle once more

  1. A spot from which this team shall never ever again fool me in to purchasing season tickets, there was never a plan to build a team, just a luxury shopping mall to build around the new track.

  2. The owners will likely refuse to sanction any sort of rebuild/reset because that will mean low ticket sales, but the ceiling for this team is WC2. It’s mind-numbingly infuriating.

  3. Stuck in the mushy middle (and still in a playoff spot!?) after playing the better part of the last month missing ~1/3 of their opening night lineup is actually kind of impressive. Losing Barzy, Duke, Romo, Pelech and Reilly and replacing them with Martin, Wally, Cholo, Hutton, and George, and still being “ok” is not what I was expecting when all those injuries hit.

  4. I really envy the fans who think we’d be mountains better with a healthy roster. I love the isles and there’s definitely SOME awesome talent, but not enough. Majority of our team is 3rd liners at best and we’re forever stuck in this position until we hit rock bottom

  5. we’re staying afloat with all our injuries, but be real, we weren’t good before the injuries. the question is whether they can keep up this level of play once everyone comes back. if yes, logically you’d think we’d then play better. but I’m guessing that won’t happen

  6. After their unfortunate losses to tampa and floundering the season after, i will never understand why they didn’t retool like the rangers did? The rangers sent letters to its fans saying hey bear with us while we retool in attempt to be great. But the islanders just flopped, with the same issues (bad pp) year after year after year after year????

  7. Will always like the isles but won’t hesitate to watch another game if it’s one of the higher end matches or a younger team like San Jose/Anaheim work out the kinks with their young cores

  8. this is pretty much what was expected, they’ll continue to be in the mushy middle until the bottom falls out

  9. Blah, blah, blah. This team has barely played at home in 3 weeks, have been missing 30% of their opening night lineup, and despite all that have climbed back into playoff position since Halloween. Isles fans are such fucking babies.
