Ignore that it's Fox News. Daines is the Senator that has been holding up the legislation that would allow DC to re-gain control of the RFK site, thus allowing the team to potentially build there again…

His big issue was that the old logo was being removed and he wanted it to remain a part of the franchises history in order to honor the Wetzel family.

That legislation passed out of committee in the Senate this week after agreements were made not to censor the old logo any longer. This doesn't mean the team will return to using it but it's a step towards preserving it as a part of the history and maybe potential throwback uses in the future.

The legislation needs to pass a Senate vote but has already passed the House. We are another step closer to a new stadium in DC and won't ever see merch with the logo censored like the Darrell Green merch recently had.

  1. I mean they built an entire little museum to the designer and the old logo so they’re definitely not censoring it.

  2. God willing. They said trump can get rid of the dc mayor as well so hopefully he does so

  3. All Snyder had to do was change the name. Nobody said anything about the logo nor uniforms at all. Especially the logo, though. It was designed after a real native with pride.

  4. This is so wildly stupid, the logo is forever associated with the racist name, it will never return and everyone here who thinks it should return only thinks that because they like getting away with uttering slurs.

  5. The reality of this situation was it was easy for the senator to bash the team and hold up this legislation because we were a bad team and organization. It’s easy political points to beat someone while they are down if it looks like you are “helping” your people.

Now that the team is in a better situation all around and is winning it is hard for him to continue to be a roadblock. He will now look like an obstructionist to a team that is trying to win and get back into their former home in DC. This won’t sit well with most people. He’s just playing politics. This will have no effect on the future branding/logos for our team. Just let the past die and let’s move on to a brighter future! #takecommand

  6. Any changes to the House bill would require a conference after senate passage or a revote
In the House on the senate passed bill.

  7. That’s the thing the logo was never the problem. Native groups never had an issue with the logo – it was the name. All he had to do was change it to the Warriors and keep the same logo and everything would’ve been fine.

  8. The name is def not coming back but it would be cool if we were one day able to get a retro uniform with the logo on it. That’s the only thing I see being a real possibility. It would be weird/interesting seeing “Commanders” on the field and/or uniforms in the OG font too.

  9. This is such a sad culture war attempt tbh. I KNEW once Trump won and republicans were emboldened they’d try some bullshit like tying stadium rights to bringing back the old name. So stupid

  10. The name itself was hella racist.

I do miss the logo and uniforms though.

Ally Snyder had to do was change the name and he couldn’t even do that right.

  11. Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes. Please let me use throwback uniforms in Madden again

  12. The grandson of “Blackie” Wetzel – the indigenous creator of the logo – said that the new Commanders leadership had been speaking with the family “in good faith” about possibly using the logo or trying to incorporate it in various ways going forward. So it’s the confluence of a new administration moving into the White House in January, basically a new Washington football club that is willing to hear the family out, and the fact that we are serious contenders now that is causing movement of this up on the Hill. I think the family and the Senator realized the politically expedient thing to do is just get the hell out of the way. There’s a video somewhere of the grandson talking about it in front of RFK, it’s worth a watch.

  13. Is our new logo protected under copyright? I cant have another damn South Park episode about us again that was brutal
