Embiid not being fouled out by the end of that is just devious. Dude had 8 fouls at least.
BC needs to just stop shooting 3’s, it’s effectively a turnover.
Still refuse to believe they didn’t foul a single time while we were shooting til halfway through the 3rd. That’s insanity.
You say we struggled against a 2 win team
I say we beat a team with 3 all stars while missing 5 heavy minutes rotation pieces
See the positive in the world my pretties
We were 5 point dogs this game. Despite the poor close out, still fine with how this one turned out
Close one but good to pull off the win. This team can really make it hard on themselves with these perplexing turnovers. Really can beat themselves in some instances just need to be smarter cause a lot of these mistakes are purely unforced. Im sure that improves with your floor general back though.
Either way good to have a Des bounce back game and one where we actually hit outside shots. Hopefully can carry that over for the foreseeable future
As someone who missed the whole first half, this was an unpleasant viewing experience
In hell they show you:
-Brandon Clarke shooting 3s
-Embiid shooting FTs
-Nick Nurse’s face after any ref blows his whistle
A win is a win I guess
Bane and Trip holding it down.
Jake of All Trades
Really need to clean up those end of game scenarios tho. Just unnecessary. Odd lineup out there for sure.
Let me welcome yall to the era of non-reverse Huff Stuffs
Huff had the highest +/-. +16.
28 higher than BC. How can that be?
good Bane bounce back til those last few min. thought for sure we’d see an Embiid master class after all the media stuff going on. a win here is huge despite their record cuz that team went all out tonight against us and actually had their guys
Turnovers continue to be a problem currently. I think they’ll lessen as the season continues
Desmond “HE COMING” Bane
Jake is turning into a bigger Josh Hart
I will forever and always be an Embiid hater
That is all
I missed this entire game doing karaoke but I will take Ws in any shape or form. Could anyone summarize the game for me?
Good win but, leavin Pippen in the bench for so long nearly killed us, would like to know why he was kept out. Not a conspiracy guy generally but not going to the line until the mid 3rd quarter is nuts.
Jaren Jackson is now a 2 way monster. Only Anthony Davis is a better 2 way big than JJJ.
Jaylen Wells is better Jared McCain, also a much better defender.
Shout out to Jenkins for becoming the Grizzlies all time winningest coach!!!! Respect 🙏🏾💪🏾
We tried to throw it away late, but overall happy with that win, all things considered.
Incidentally, has there been a heavier front court than Embiid and Yabusele? They’re listed as what, 280 and 265 respectively, but if either of them weigh less than Zach Edey, i’ll go he.
I don’t think it’s a surprise that we really stretched the lead when BC was out of the game. He just doesn’t fit this team anymore as sad as that makes me to say it.
I for one, want Taylor Jenkins PSYCHO “You fucked up Embiid” face as our right hand image. Someoen find it for me.
Jake have yourself a night. Jake of all trades. Slaw Dawg.
Bane the Mane and Luke the Nuke Kennard broke out of slumps. Santi had an all around much needed game. Jaren stepped up to match Embiid All Star to All Star. Blockboy J3! Made his presence felt.
Wells continues to look like one of the steals of the draft. Huff N Stuff provided that hustle energy on both ends, inside and out. Scotty Too Hotty was crucial as a steady hand and probably should’ve been put out there sooner in the 4th. Cam Spencer even made his season debut and had a couple of assists!
Go Grizz. Grit N Grind Forever and Ever 🙏🏾🔥🐻🏀〽️
That ended up closer than it should’ve been, but at the same time can never complain too much about beating Joel Embiid doing his Joel Embiid thing (its highly effective and the worst thing I’ve seen in my life)
Also, as politely as possible, can BC never shoot a 3 again?
Just saw that BC only has 1 block this year
**OoooOoOOo! THE POSTGAME THOUGHTS!**
**• That fucking game could have been lost.**
It just goes to show that when you don’t have a player who is a closer, that any game could slip away from you in a span of 2 minutes. Why SPjr wasn’t subbed back in earlier in the 4th is a mystery to me. It was almost like TJ wanted to but Iisalo was like *”No, no. SPjr has played too many minutes. We can’t put him back in even though he’s a point guard and we need one. It’s positionless basketball; they’ll be fine.”*
**• Actually, I’m sick of the way they’re rotating players in and out overall**
Taking players out who have developed a rhythm and are exploiting the other team is not a winning strategy. I get that the idea is to keep fresh players in but you’re bring in players who are either ice cold or just aren’t roasting the opponents like others. At one point, they pulled Jake just as he was warming up only to bring in Clarke. The same guy who cannot hit anything. He’s been defending well but boy has he stunk every time he shot the ball. If I never see him shoot another three, I’ll be a happy woman.
**• That Desmond Bane bounceback was nice**
Feels good to not feel cursed. Now we just need Ja back so Des doesn’t have to be the focal point of the other team’s defensive strategy and we’ll be alright. He was doing it all tonight, and that’s on top of his first few shots not going in as if it was going to be an off night. Shooters need to believe in themselves, to believe that the next one will go in no matter what the last ten may have looked like.
Now, if only we could find a way to **break** BC of that…
**• Will you FINALLY admit Jake can play?**
My dude has been killing it. Doing all the little shit, getting the garbage points when needed, hitting people in scoring position, harassing people on defense, getting steals, hitting threes (*42% on the year*), drawing fouls & making his free throws again… what more do you need?? When asked by Rob Fisher what he’s been doing to elevate these other parts of his game, Jake said *”I just go out and try to be a dawg every night.”*
Goddamn it, you ***ARE*** a dawg, Jake LaRavia.
**• Cam Spencer finally d’butted in the NBA!**
Didn’t generate much excitement but it’ll come. All of our rookies had lackluster first games. Some it took a few. I have confidence in him. To his credit, he made some good extra passes to people who scored and stayed with some very talented guards and forwards on the Sixers team. He did not look bad at all which, for a rookie in his first game, should be considered a win. I expect good things.
Speaking of rookies…
**• Jaylen Wells would like a word with people saying Jared McCain could be RotY**
Our rookies are better than your rookie. Period. The only thing between Jaylen Wells and that RotY trophy is Mt. Edey.
**• My dad and I played a drinking game centered on how many times Embiid went to the floor**
I’m not durnk. You’re durnk.
Jaren, Bane, and Wells leading the way.
Joel Embitch
