  1. Sasaki to Queens is back on the menu.

Stearns needs to get the Soto deal done and then catch the next flight to Japan.

  2. The Mets have very little int’l free agent money left after signing Peña. I think it’s around $1.2m which is among the lowest remaining of all mlb teams. .

The only way the Mets are in this discussion is if they make some big trades to get int’l free agent money. It would take some pretty notable prospects to get near the $5-$6m mark we’d need to be at to compete with the dodgers among other teams.

It’s incredibly unlikely the Mets are even in the Roki discussion. I know people are speculating he isn’t going to the dodgers, he’s almost definitely going to the dodgers.

  3. I hope we can scoop up some nice extra prospects after the dodgers bail on their previous international agreements so they can give all their money to Sasaki.

  4. Interesting point in the Sasaki scenario. Supposedly because of how he is coming over whatever deal they sign initially – once the ink is dry…. The team that signed him can then sign him to whatever kind of extension they want with no “international money” pool implications

  5. what stops a team from signing him for 10k with an agreement he’s immediately bought out of rookie and arb years at like 18M per?

  6. Dodgers go all out for him, id really love Sasaki but if it takes their attention away from Soto and even from other high level international guys… might end up being a blessing

I’d rather have Sasaki and Soto, obviously, but tryna be a little realistic here

  7. I’m sure David will inquire but if it’s a low chance we will likely go to other pitching options first to give them our attention. Burnes and Crochet should be the priorities
