How Bills’ Tyler Bass is getting ready for his next big kick: ‘You’re going to go through storms’

Couple paragraphs I thought were particularly interesting:
>Bass’ season and career were hitting an inflection point. He came out for warmups before the [Titans](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/nfl/team/titans/) game and fans showered him with cheers and encouragement. He noticed, and it pulled him out of the negative thoughts.
>“I think most people don’t just take a deep breath and realize that probably is the best thing to do,” Bills long snapper [Reid Ferguson](https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/nfl/player/reid-ferguson-bmTkDTyMtHfsWqrW/) said. “Everybody gets booed. It happens. You call some bad plays or drop a pass, stuff happens. Everybody gets booed at some point. But when you have a guy that was going through what he was going through, at some point as a fan of the team, you sit back and say, ‘Pushing him down is not going to work. Maybe we should try encouraging this person. Maybe that will help my team win.’”
and:
>“It means a lot,” Bass said. “The Bills do a good job of just letting guys develop. This league is a business, but this team did a great job just being patient and I’m really appreciative of that for sure. I’m just grateful. I just focus on what I can do right now.”
>Ferguson thinks that faith in Bass has a ripple effect on the rest of the roster. Under McDermott, he said, players know they can play free and aren’t walking on eggshells, worried about every mistake.
It kind of reminds me of Rian Lindell. He was shaky early and the fans were booing him so he stated in an interview he’d probably boo himself too which seemed to turn the fans in his favor and it seemed like after that he suddenly became a solid kicker
Remember how everyone was saying that Bass would lose us a few games by missing kicks. (Rightly so)
Bills are 4-0 when Bass misses an XP 🤣
I wonder if him missing them causes the team to tighten up and play better to make up for it.
Just make every extra point.
Jake elliot, justin tucker, younghoe koo, evan mcpherson. All of them are below 75% made FGs. Bass is at 86.4%.
These guys have cost their teams games with their poor kicking, bass has not.
