They get tight. Frankly i thought by now with all the injuries they would be completely out of it. They are playing better as a team Roy’s influence is seeping in. I think they figured out Dobber’s game and he hasn’t adjusted. Mayfield isn’t a very good defenseman. They have to work so hard to win, its just asking too much. Maybe if Barzy and Duke come back they will go on a little run.
Bench 24 = NY win
It is what it is. Isles are a very limited team-their margin to win is very thin and relies too much on 30. No strengths outside of 30. Even 30 isn't enough some games. Injuries or not same old stale roster, same old pop gun offense. Isles one w on trip they won easily 6-2. That kind of production is rare. Isles don't have the explosive offense to put games away or score a goal to fend off a third period charge. And 8 tries to do too much late in tight games and makes too many mistakes. This blown lead shit as well as the sorry pk has happened under two coaches now. Coincidence or roster problem? Continuous blown leads shouldn't happen with a veteran team. You could count on one hand how many blown third period leads isles had under trotz. Isles those first two seasons were lights out shut down. 3, 6, 24, 13, 29, 27, 44, 53, 17-all vets- were all part of that. No excuses for it. Either isles don't care anymore, too lazy, or forgot how to shut it down with a lead. Louzer needs to shake this roster up-the only way to fix it. Bring in newer younger better players because this old tired roster just can't keep up with younger faster better teams in third period. So as long as louzer remains married to this roster the problems will remain. No coach can fix the blown leads/bad pk problems.
Now off to wings 3 pts. behind isles with a coach on the hot seat. Isles -7 gf, ga. Wings, -14. All 8 teams in east playoff spot are on + side gf, ga.
Good 🌄, Gil, how are you? 19 games into the season, and except for 2 of them, the Islanders still can't hold a lead when it counts, and it's cost them BIG TIME. THEY MUST TIGHTEN UP. For one thing, they need start playing 60 minutes of hockey from start to finish. There's a part of me that thinks this is coming back to haunt Lou Lamoriello and his bad use of cap space. The special teams are next to last, and the muddy middle their in is getting muddier by the minute. Paul from the 🇬🇧, I, too, think the higher ups would be happy that the Islanders are at #16. They're in Detroit tonight, and are inconsistent with a PK that's way worse than the Islanders, and the PP is slightly better than the Islanders. HAPPY 🎂, BERT MARSHALL. He helped The Islanders come of age in that 3rd year when the Islanders made the NHL stand up and take notice. He came thru when he scored the GW goal in 🦬 during the playoffs. Hear from you later, Gil, and LET'S GO ISLANDERS
Why not call up Brian Pinho to replace Wally? He can't do worse, and actually might add some scoring depth. Also, I agree with the other commenter about benching 24… He's just horrible!
Not only are our special teams dreadful. But we are horrible 5 on 6 too. Everytime islanders have a lead in the closing minutes and the opposing team pulls their goalie im holding my breath, just waiting for them to score. Normally you should get excited about a open net on the other end. But they can't hit those either! It's very very frustrating!! Gotta get this figured out.
Good morning team! Gil, I agree with you on the points you're making. Except for a few players, that I like by the way, the Islander roster is basically the same team. Yes, they have had these issues for a few now, meaning giving up a lead late and the PK. I truly believe, once we get our players back, those issues will work themselves out. Our goaltending is great, and they don't need much. I believe with a healthy team, we can hang in there with the majority of teams. Unfortunately, the elite teams of the league will still have their way with us. those are the facts. Redwings are our next victim. Let's try to treat them that way. We need two points tonight! Everyone, have a wonderful day! See you all again tomorrow. Until then.. Let's go Islanders!!
