I Think I’m Done Watching The Edmonton Oilers

The Edmonton Oilers put in another dull game to watch. The title’s a joke, but seriously, they gotta get going here.

  1. I have some reservations about the Oilers this season. Losing Holloway and Broberg to the Blues wash a massive blow, and Arvidsson and Skinner who were suppose to boost us in offense have been very underwhelming. The Oilers have this long bad habit of playing like crap early in the season and turning it up in the later half of the season to get a playoff spot. This is very dangerous though it's like playing russian roulette eventually your going to eat that bullet. I might take a break from watching Oiler games for a bit until the team can prove they can put a couple of wins in a row together.

  2. They are the sports version of Bi-Polar! And you truly have no idea who's coming to play!
I am sick of Skinner though…..He literally had 5 goals against tonight in 11 shots tonignt. Luckily 2 were called back.

  3. I had the exact reaction as you. I don't want to watch and get angry with the Oilers anymore until they do the right things. I also don't want to pay and go in the arena and finance worst management in the NHL, worst trainer-team (Knoblauch, Coffey, Schwartz all need to GO!), worst NHL Goalie (Skinner), pathetic McDrai who plays one game amazingly and 2 like 5M$ forwards, etc, etc. They need to get their shit together before they can count on the best supporters in the NHL. At this point the Oilers Management, Trainer-Team and players, headed by pathetic McDrai in 2 out of 3 games, do NOT DESERVE the Oilers' Support. PERIOD.

  4. exactly my feelings as @wainber1 bellow. I disagree strongly with most podcasters and Oilers' supporters who all think and believe we are in great shape, and Skinner will turn around and the whole team will play much better and have a long-run of wins, and get the cup. What I am seeing is a completely non-NHL level goalie (Skinner, and Pickard is not far from that either), a completely apathetic trainer who is unable to reach the team, to influence crisis situations, to give the players a strategy at hand on how to defend (and I include here Coffey and Schwartz, they all belong sacked YESTERDAY), a McDavid that is trying too much on his own, passes when he needs to shoot, shoots when he needs to pass, gets frustrated cause most of his runs end up in a 'wall', a Draisaitl who despite good goal-counter is often just as uninspired as McDavid and often is predictable on how he only looks for McDavid, a Bouch who has more blackouts than good passes or shots, etc, etc. Up and down the line, despite great roster, one sees only 'bad players', which is a very very clear sign that the TRAINER TEAM needs to be replaced, they lost the team. This team is playing one great game and two bad, and even if they have a run and catch miraculously the playoffs, the fly out in the first round against any team, based on Skinner alone. I don't care about folks who believe Skinner took them to the final, that perception is wrong. Skinner was a passenger in the last playoffs, no solid goal-tending, don't care about stats, he is a 'stressed' character, despite the calm face he is putting on, every ball he defends he has afterwards NO IDEA where he is, where the puck is, and acts as if he was dropped on Mars looking for water. No way this team can get past Dallas, Rangers, Panthers, Jets, Wild, Carolina, Tampa, Vegas, etc, etc. As long as this trainer-team and goalie stay, no CUP to Edmonton.

Surgery still postponed so here are some stats. Again, I can't watch the games. What follows is my opinion.

So the first goal 27 seconds in to the game was a weird one by Draisaitl. Draisaitl shot it from his own blue line and it took a funny hop off of 2 sticks and in. It's times like that I can see a Goalie looking up and asking God if he owes him money or something.

This was a situation where Edmonton had issues clearing and eventually Minnesota got it in. The mismatch in blocks tells me there needs to be another round of posterior whoopin' to get it into the heads of ALL players that a stick can block a shot so get them in the lanes and help your goalie out.

Ekholm with 5 giveaways and Bouch with 4 were mostly due to dump and chase but still it's a lot. Oilers had more shots (which is pretty normal now), won quite a few more faceoffs, fewer penalty minutes, fewer hits, half the blocked shots, more giveaways, 1 less takeaway and the Wild are not known as a high scoring team yet they got 5 and the Oilers only got 3. I know we don't tend to do well against them but still it's like some things were half hearted. They also finally lost a game that had a fight.

    Take care all.

  6. Absolutely no depth on this team. They only have a chance when McDrai are playing well and it hasn’t been a whole lot so far. How are they still favored to win the cup?😂😂😂😂

  7. so when does your joke and mockery become actual anger? im sick of paying 400$ to take my girl to a game then 100$ for snacks and beer to watch this effort, im more than a little frustrated welcome to the new leafs loaded up front cant win with this BS!
