So positive vibes only: I'm curious. I'm an East Coast fan (NJ!) so I genuinely never got a great feel about location of stadiums in AZ. I know it was important and we all know the catchphrase for the golden rules of real estate: location, location, location.

My hypothetical question is this:

Where would you build a new stadium if you were able to buyout/knock down any current structure and place a NHL stadium/arena in Phoenix (or subsection) and why?

No price is too great. No obstructions from local government. Just you with unlimited resources and a good idea.

Goal: For any outsider to understand the local area (including myself) to grasp what works, what doesn't, and to have a little fun on this Friday. Debates are welcome. Keep it civil as always.

Thanks. Awoooooooo!!

  1. On the North East corner of Indian School and Central. This would be a great location because it’s in central Phoenix, on a light rail stop and there is currently nothing there but a big lot of dirt.

  2. I never understood why they didn’t jump at the chance of building at the old fiesta mall site. Most of the season ticket holders were from Scottsdale and the east valley.

  3. Unlimited money? I’d take over Tempe Diablo Stadium and practice fields.

Has easy access to freeway heading in all 4 compass directions, especially after the I-10 upgrades finish.

Arizona Mills could use the glut of new money it would bring. Plenty of real estate oppurtunity in the old Fry’s Electronics land for further development in the immediate area.
