[Rogers] The Royals acquired infielder Jonathan India and outfielder Joey Wiemer from the Reds for starter Brady Singer. Big trade to net Kansas City a leadoff hitter and more on-base in their lineup, but at the loss of a homegrown starter in Singer.

  1. Feels like the Reds could’ve gotten more for India, not super optimistic on how Singer will perform in GABP

I think we can all agree, however, that we love Major Leaguer for Major Leaguer trades

  2. Absolutely massive trade for us. I do feel bad for Singer for leaving like this but I cannot be upset with getting both an outfielder and an infielder, our positions of need. Let’s fucking go.

  3. Seems like it could work for both sides here. Reds get a good arm and clear out an infield logjam. Royals get an actual hitter to play 2B and should still have a strong rotation. Fun move

  4. WELP

Nothing like trading the young, consistent arm with big innings eating and upside when you have two starters over 34 with career highs in innings or the most in 7 years, for a league average infield bat that plays bad defense!!

As you can tell, I love it!

If Ragans, Wacha or Lugo don’t all make 30+ starts next year, we are fucked 🙂

  5. Honestly don’t know how to feel about this. Brady as a 4 felt like a real weapon and while India gives the Royals some OBP, felt like it should’ve come from the OF.

Guess the Royals are high on what Kyle Wright and Alec Marsh can do. Or Bubic going back to the rotation

  6. #MY NIGHTMARE IS OVER, INDIA IS GONE

Thank you Royals, he’s your problem now.

EDIT: I realize this seems a bit mean, r/reds (and elsewhere) knows me as India’s #1 hater, so I’m just playing into the bit.

  7. Wow I thought the Reds totally blew their opportunity to move on from him last offseason but they still managed to get something. Well done

  8. Singer’s savant page has a lot of blue. India’s has a good amount of red. Opinion decided.

  9. No clue why reds fans are happy about this. Traded one of the 4 decent bats on one of the worst offenses in the league for a pitcher that ping pongs between being ok to good and being a disaster and is now moving from one of the most pitcher friendly parks to one of the least.

Because we were definitely in need of our 4th SP4.

  10. You know it’s a good trade for both sides when there’s fans from each team thinking both that they got fleeced or fleeced the other team. Nobody knows how to rate this trade lol

  11. Reds won this one.

India hasn’t matched his numbers since his rookie year. He’s been league average with nothing spectacular on defense.

Joey Wiemer hasn’t clicked as a prospect and hasn’t even hit in the minors. There is some defense but 4th outfielder at best if there is room on the active because he can’t hit.

That isn’t worth 2 controllable years of Brady Singer who looked alright last year and starting pitchers are suppose to be more valuable.

  12. I think India is underrated.

This sub tends to forget that chemistry and culture can affect performance and Bell and India didn’t get along.

I think he’s a prime candidate to benefit from a scene shift

  13. I absolutely love this trade for both teams. I think more for Cincy but both teams benefit with ready to play ML talent.

  14. Don’t like that one bit. Good for the Royals, and good for the Reds. Deal from strength while serving the Royals what they feel they need.

  15. Am I the only one who likes this trade for the Royals? India was pretty good in 2024. 97th percentile walk rate and doesn’t strike out much.

  16. I’m so glad there’s been some action in the baseball world. Good lord do I miss it

  17. Oh shit, this is actually a good trade for both sides. Giving up someone of great value to get people of great value. Singer will be missed, but netting JONATHAN INDIA and Wiemer is commendable.

  18. For christs sake a league average hitter at best is being hailed as a leadoff hitter. I hate this deal but I’m also a huge Brady Singer fan

  19. This is great for both teams, sad to see India go as he’s an amazing dude/solid player. Now the Reds fill innings and McClain will fill the 2B role
