  2. Sucks, injuries prevented him from getting a real shot to contribute in the regular season. But the move makes sense.

  4. Chisholm and (likely) Durbin exist as mainstay infielders so Berti being non-tendered makes sense

  7. I don’t really have an issue with this. Berti is getting up there in age and was injured most of the season.

    I do worry that it’s a precursor to DJ LeMahieu being back, he needs to be cut asap as to not waste space on the roster.

  10. Dumb. Should’ve kept Berti and released DJ, but that would require Cashman to admit he made a mistake and Hal to eat money. Berti gives you speed and defensive versatility and can hit a little bit. DJ provides nothing.

  11. Expected this sadly. 35 known for speed but has had leg issues this year. Always been a fan of Berti so I’m a little saddened but they could always retain him for cheaper but I doubt it. Best of luck to him!

  12. Yeah, makes sense. 35, hip and calf injuries, never hit much to begin with.

    If you want a guy to ride the pine, pinch run once a week, and be able to come in for defense wherever you need, you can carry Oswald Peraza for the league minimum.

    If you want a veteran who’ll play 3-4 games a week, you can go get that for half the price of Berti (projected at 3.8M). Thairo Estrada, Amed Rosario, Kyle Farmer…..

  19. idk if im dumb but why isnt he a free agent anyways? he only played 4 games in 2018 so 2019-2021 were pre-arb, seems like 2022 was arb 1 so why wasnt 2024 arb 3?
