Wow surprised about Vaughn
We’ll give Vaughn one more year, and if no improvement hand 1B off to Tim Elko.
Right choice but I’m gonna hate watching Vaughn for another season
I figured they’d keep him. Like you said, nothing else there and they are not going to get a FA to fill the spot.
Are we just putting out a team of minor leaguers next year?
One more year. See if the new hitting coach can get him to increase production a bit.
If Vaughn doesn’t hit enough then bye bye
All these comments about “we really don’t have anyone except Vaughn at 1B” — every one of our players at any other IF position could play 1B defensively better than Vaughn, and perhaps both our catchers could. 1B is defensively the least demanding position on any team, and even a GG 1B doesn’t help a team as much as a middling-good 2B, SS or 3B. So, really, the only reason to keep Vaughn around is for his bat — which isn’t all that good, unless you compare it to everyone else we have. Only Baldwin and Robert, among all our current players, have a decent chance of hitting better than Vaughn in 2025 (better = higher BA, or more HR, or OBPS). We’ll know when this team really has improved when Vaughn is gone, unless Vaughn ups his game more than even I hope.
Vaughn should’ve went with Sheets, below replacement level player.
