Die hard Pens fan, and honestly can barely watch a game anymore. My biggest beef and it’s been this way for a while is offensive style of play. Dumping the puck in the zone and hoping for the best isn’t working and has never worked. I think if they changed how they bring the puck into the offensive zone it would pay off for them. There is still a lot of talent here but dump and run isn’t getting them anywhere. Just creates a lot of unnecessary turnovers and opportunities for the opposing teams.

not really. it was pretty evident that this team wasn’t going to be very good…
Between the team’s play and the quality of the SportsNet app, I’m not sure the investment of time is worth it at this point. I’m trying to reduce aggravation in my life not add to it.
I had low expectations coming into this season, so it isn’t too bad. I still love the team, and hockey is fun to watch. If I only watch them when they’re good, I wouldn’t feel like a loyal supporter.
I’m taking my medicine and trying to enjoy the ride. It’ll be that much sweeter in 5 years when they are competitive again ✌️
I’m choosing to watch the games and be happy about smaller aspects of the game rather than be focused on the W/L column.
Seeing Pickering play well, the OPP line giving us a lot of good chances, etc.
At this point, we are a bottom 5 team most likely so let’s keep getting young players some ice time and see what we have going forward. For now, enjoy their individual success and achievements rather than being so invested in the success of the team as a whole.
I just started watching this year and I’ve tried to watch every game I can and I’m having a blast watching with my friend over discord.
Blooma quickly became my favorite and I got so sad he got sent down to AHL but seeing geno and sid after hearing so much about them is fun. Learning the rules and recognizing when we fuck up and when we do good.
I dunno. I can understand probably why people who have been fans since their best years might not be having fun but from the point of view of a brand new fan I think there’s still a lot of value in cheering for the players I’m excited for.
Maybe I’ll feel jaded one day but this is the first time I’ve been a fan of something other people around me also enjoy and feeling community outside of niche spaces is new. I like lurking around in the game thread and watching you guys react to things as it’s happening. It feels like a party.
I’m still not sure why we hate sully so much because I’m not aware of all the finer technical stuff, but the comments about him chewing his gum always get me laughing.
I won’t be able to watch tonight which makes me bummed out just like how I feel every game I’ve missed.
So yeah, I do feel like watching the season, and I’m excited for next season too! Especially learning about trades and team changing dynamics. It’ll be so interesting!
We were very aware this was what was going to happen three years ago and have continued to remind ourselves while at the same time blocking it from many minds. This team is in a shit show when it should have begun a rebuild under hextall. We are to late to jump on that good rebuild track so we will need to limo along for a few more years before we get a real rebuild started.
>it never worked
Buddy we’ve been running the same offense since Sully came on board.
Every single game Sid does at least two things that make my head spin. That alone is worth the price of admission.
I’m just glad people stopped saying phases like “we only have a little bit left until the window of this core is closed.” This window has been closed, sealed shut, boarded up, and bricked over for almost 5 years now when we extended Sullivan.
We got 3 Cups and some amazing games from these guys, but the bill always comes due. It’s only going to get worse before it gets better.
out options are seemingly: laugh, cry, or not watch
It’s going to be a looooong season, so just going into each game with a positive face laced with no expectations and if they happen to win I am happy but not too upset if they don’t lol
They’re a bottom dweller and there’s not a compelling reason to think they could be anything but this season. Everyone calling for Sully’s head or for us to move EK by adding in sweeteners is missing it.
They put together what they thought could be a bubble roster and it crashed and burned. At this point the drain is a wash so they’re not going to do anything to try and save it. It’s not salvageable.
i cant ever remember feeling this un-interested in watching the pens play. After missing only a handful of games each year for the past couple decades its just meh now. I could go on and on about why, but we all know
Love my team. Buuuut I haven’t -and won’t- be watching anymore games for a while. Shit hurts my feelings lol
Here is the puck moving down the ice. Look there is our going the wrong way. Here is another guy watching to see what happens…. I feel like this exactly. That line from Waterboy describes this team.
Maybe they’re trying to get the first pick but started late.
With my expectations in check before the season ever started, this season means more watching for me. I got great seats for the Colorado game for cheap because I want to see McKinnon play. I will do it for a few other gsmes to get my live hockey fix satisfied. It would be awesome if we win the games but not the sole reason I’m there.
Crosby enters the zone.
He fakes a pass to the left
No
He thinks about faking to the left
I need to sit down
They need to have a fire sale. Everyone but 87
They installed the dump and chase because trying to carry the puck into the offensive zone was leading to hella turnovers and odd man breaks the other way. We don’t have enough skill any more to dance through the neutral zone and bring the puck in past the blue line.
I love the Penguins more than any other team. I love the Steelers, I love the Mets, but the Penguins have brought me more joy than any other team I care about, by far.
That being said, I’m probably not watching many more Pens game this season. I’ll watch the lineups and watch the kids when they play, but besides that, there’s no point.
We’re overdue for a down year. Sell at the deadline, build up some near-future prospects, and hope that we can build a team around 87 and 71 in time.
You have to accept that it’s over for now. The time has come for a rebuild. Accept it. It happens. Hold on tight.
