The Boston College Eagles (6-5, 3-4 ACC) football team became bowl eligible on Saturday afternoon with a dominant 41-21 win over the UNC Tar Heels (6-5, 3-4 ACC) at Alumni Stadium.
The Eagles got off to a fast 17-0 lead with a 49-yard field goal by Liam Connor which was a career high, a three-yard touchdown run by quarterback Grayson James, and a 24-yard touchdown run by athlete John Montague Jr.
The Tar Heels got on the board in the second quarter by the special teams unit with a 95-yard kickoff return touchdown by wide receiver Chris Culliver.
Boston College scored 24 unanswered points after the special teams score with an 18-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Reed Harris, a 27-yard field goal by Connor, a 78-yard pick six by defensive back Ryan Turner, and an eight-yard touchdown run by running back Kye Robichaux.
The Tar Heels scored two offensive touchdowns late in the fourth quarter, both by running back Davion Gause. The first was a two-yard run with a little over two minutes left in the game and the second was a ten-yard run with nine seconds remaining.
The Eagles explosive performance marked the second-most points scored in a game this season and the most in conference play.
