Tikkanen arrived to MSG as an Oiler, and was traded for Doug Weight, a Ranger. They played each other, and their former teams that night.
Crazy confusing first period.
Nicest dude ever. Met him at a hotel in Armonk NY, maybe 1995/96 during my youth hockey team’s award dinner. He was eating alone in the hotel restaurant and signed autographs for anyone that wanted one. Still have it too.
Esa!
First Jersey I bought during 1994! Wear it with pride every time!

Have you tried google reverse image search?
That’s Esa Tikkannen and the picture is from the 1997 playoff run. I think this was against the Devils.
My boy Esa! When hockey was good 🤩
Esa Tikkanen!
So many great Ranger players [have worn #10](https://www.hockey-reference.com/teams/NYR/numbers.html).
He was a beauty. Really good player and awesome agitator.

Keep in mind, it was over 25 years ago…original photo may not be that sharp- not that I know anything about photography
Tikk for sure
I love when they interviews him after winning the cup. He sounds like he looks…
[Check out](https://www.nytimes.com/1993/03/18/sports/hockey-rangers-trade-weight-for-oilers-tikkanen-then-take-a-loss.html) one of the craziest things to happen at a game I attended.
