  3. Having watched both Ian “Oilers sleeper agent” Cole and Cody “I only show up for game 7” Ceci in the playoffs last season, please no.

  4. None of those D-Men excite me more than what is on the wolfpack.

    Yanni Gourde as a depth center that has won a cup would be a great depth peice.

  8. Love the idea of Bjugstad. Imagine a line of Edstrom/Bjugstad/Carrick or Vesey?

    Gourde could be an interesting fit. We love overpaying the kraken for centers lol brings speed and forecheck.

    None of these defenseman excite me except for Petterson. Would think you’d only deal for him if you plan to extend.

  9. I say first off if he isn’t coming back Trade Lindgren, he might have more value to a contending team. You can have Miller/Fox Jones/Schneider. Then you go after a depth LHD it will probably cost you a 4th or something. I don’t trust Chytil to stay healthy so Granland or Strum would be good adds. I would say Strum because he won’t need salary retention for us to acquire him.

  10. every single one of those dmen is borderline 6/7 with marginal improvement if any except for maybe petterson. Cole and Ceci are terrible. 

     if they’re going to blow the capital this year it needs to be a big swing, not a 6D.  Would love to improve on Lindgren but this ain’t it 

    unless Chytil (or another top 9 C) goes down long term there’s also zero reason to go for a center

  11. I’d LOVE Gourde. And if we could keep him long term I’d give up a good hit to have him. Perfect Chytl insurance.

  12. Gourde is the only center on here id be interested in but this team absolutely has to add another center. No way you can go in to the playoffs counting on Chytil to stay healthy.

  15. Would be happy with either Granlund and Gourde.

    Pettersson would be an upgrade over Lindgren.

    Love Frankie V and could’ve used him last year, but I don’t think wingers are a primary concern now.

    Just PLEASE no Cole or Ceci.

  16. Petterson is a good shut down guy but his biggest struggle is he can’t make an outlet pass. I feel like the Rangers desperately need puck movers since we’re so dangerous in transition the focus should be getting guys who can create transition opportunities from the breakout. A guy like Petterson would frustrate the hell out of this fanbase.

  19. If the reports from last season that MTL wont pick up a call from Drury, scratch Matheson off the list. Im scratching Cody Ceci off the list (not just because hes bad) but hes a right shot defenseman.

    Mentioned in the article and shot down because it will probably cost a first is Ivan Provorov. Realistically its cause he wont wear the pride jersey and since NYR cancelled wearing the jerseys after that (assuming to hide the player that wouldnt wear it) I dont think they care about the backlash of bringing him in.

    A player not mentioned because they have one more year on his contract is Mario Ferraro. Given next season’s cap crunch bringing in someone who is signed for 3.25 could be a possibility. If not him, I could see someone in that similar cap hit whose team isnt making the playoffs next season either.

  21. Gourde would be great for the bottom 6, Granlund would be great for the top 9. Either of them would be nice additions to our forward core and great insurance policies if one of our centers gets hurt.

    Also, the idea of Matheson coming in to bolster our left side is appealing. He’s a good Dman on a bad team, contract isn’t nuts and he’s under contract through next season, so wouldn’t be a rental situation. Our organizational LD depth is pretty thin right now, and if there’s no plan to keep Lindgren beyond this season, Matheson could fit in nicely beyond this year.

  29. I mean look Othmann is basically expendable since we have so much prospect depth on the wings but like… none of these dudes seem worth it.

    This squad is certainly capable of winning a cup. Likely? Eh. Will any of these guys significantly help our chances? I’m not sure

  32. Rangers should’ve never allowed Travis Konecny to extend in Philadelphia. Should’ve thrown the bag at him. He looks incredible this year and is the type of playoff player that we desperately need.

  33. Honestly don’t really see any massive upgrades here. Maybe someone like Gourde for the 4th line or maybe Ian Cole as depth D. Other than that don’t think this list is very inspiring.

  37. As someone who watches the Stars a ton, Faksa is a great piece on any team as long as your not looking for a skilled passer or shooter.

    Great faceoff winner, excellent penalty killer, has played on shutdown lines against other teams’ top ones, decent forechecker.

    He just wasn’t worth the value he was being paid at Dallas, but is great value for anything >1.6 million
