The first baseman of the greatest infield ever.
Great Met. Every Met FA should aspire to be like him. For a short time he was a feared hitter too. His race to hit .400 made mainstream news back in ’93.
His numbers dont get him in the HOF, but if you watched him play he would change your mind. Hes definately in that Kirk Gibson, Don Mattingly, Dale Murphy, Keith Hernandez tier.
Such an underrated player.
Played at a time of gaudy numbers, and his were always legit.
What McNeil could’ve been!
What could have been if he stuck around for 2000.
I loved olerud. Slow as a glacier on the bases but a joy to watch hit and field. That infield was something special
First ballot Hall of Very Good. Probably would go in as a Blue Jay, though.
The second best first baseman in Mets history behind Keith Hernandez
He was pretty ok if you’re into things like fielding and hitting
That’s insane value. He was a joy to watch, very even keeled personality and steady performance, exactly who you’d want up in a clutch moment.
Likely the second best Mets 1b ever behind Mex.
Is this an ad for Bitcoin? Look at that dollar depreciation jeez
Was awesome to watch olerud and I wish he would have stayed… I’m writing from memory but I think he wanted to be somewhere quieter?
Loved him and when he signed with Seattle… I haven’t met a Mets fan that said shit about him.
Loved watching him play. Such a quiet guy, taking the 7 when his wife needed their (one, apparently) car.
I’ve got a black Olerud jersey from 97 or 98, loved watching him anchor that infield
