Let’s not be disingenuous here. They fired their interim head coach that was hired with the idea they’d get someone when they became available. Montgomery became available and they did what they said.
Richardson didn’t assemble the dogshit roster
CHGO: “Jim Montgomery wouldn’t want to come here!!!! He’s gonna wait until the offseason then go to a contender, so let’s stop hearing that he would come to a struggling team right now!”
St. Louis Blues : Hire Jim Montgomery the very next day.
Why would a proven coach come to an unproven team. Gotta give it time and develop and draft.

Is the idea to fire Richardson mid season with the goal that team improves slightly and ends up finishing 28th in the league instead of 32nd? He’s not the coach for the future but firing him now doesn’t do much for next season or beyond.
