From @NYR_PR on X “UPDATE: Brett Berard has been recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack. Victor Mancini and Chad Ruhwedel have been assigned to the Hartford Wolf Pack.”
Am I the only that feel this team is lost like I feel the did a shitty job in off season and now it’s just blender mode
1. finally 2. demoting both Mancini and Ruhwedel is suspicious
Well at least there’s something to look forward to I guess
Very happy to see the Jones injury wasn’t that severe. Fingers crossed he really cements his role in the eyes of the coaches so Drury can make the right move to subtract and add at the deadline

Everyone in the sub tracking these recalls and assignments
First off, happy for Berard. He’ll be a shot in the arm of energy for any line he’s on, and he’s been Hartford’s most productive 5v5 player. That said, what line is he going on? With Chytil out, you could put him on the 3rd with Kakko at center. I figure that’s the most likely, although I guess you could put him with Mika and Kreider and push Smith down instead (maybe up if Mika-Kreider start getting the minutes they actually deserve). The dumb move would be putting him in for Edstrom on the 4th, so maybe that’s the most likely option.
The defense moves are more interesting/confusing. We’re now back to 6 defenseman, one of which was day-to-day with an injury literally yesterday. ~~This doesn’t really seem like cap management because we still called up Berard, when in theory we could have called him up tomorrow before the game to bank additional space today.~~
That would also mean we called up Mancini to fly cross country overnight for a single game, which in turn is a statement of just how poorly they view Ruhwedl. I don’t think Ruhwedl has been notably bad since he came over here (he was actually fine with Jones towards the end of last season), but if 2 games or whatever was enough to sour Lav’s opinion of him, why didn’t we go after another vet 7D over the summer?
And why are we back to 6D anyway? Are we just gonna call up a 7D tomorrow? ~~If that’s the case, why call Berard up today on an off-day?~~
Edit: Crossing out the cap stuff on Berard, roster moves after 5 PM count against the following day’s cap. From what I could tell we also couldn’t send down Ruhwedl or Mancini prior to now/after 5PM because they travelled with the team earlier today, if that makes sense.
It’s 13.12(h) in the CBA if anyone wants to read into it more.
Knew something was up when Berard was scratched. Are where do we think he slots in? Kakko to C with Berard and Cuylle on the wings?

Give me a top 6 of some combination of:
Berard – Kakko – Laf
Panarin – Trocheck – Cuylle
or give me death
Soooo this means Jones is ok. Whew.
