He would fit within our system so seamlessly
The idea of Olynyk is better than the player itself. He’s good in offense, sure. He sets up PNR well, good enough passer, and a terrific shooter. But there’s a reason why he is not a permanent starter on any team he’s been a part of, and that is his defense. He’s a poor defender and a poor rebounder. He doesn’t offer any rim protection or perimeter defense. Not good enough as a 5 defensively, not mobile enough to be a 4.
Honestly, if we’re going to target a center, I’d rather take a shot on Rob Williams than him. At least Rob is also great defensively.

It would have to be Donte to have a solid starter. Yes we need a big. So what do we get first?
Iād rather have Jonas. Heās slow and not the best defender, but he can rebound and bang with the big boys.
Hell naw. Package him with podz for a guard that we can rely on at the 1 or the 2.
Healthy KO would be nice. But his health is a question atm. Also will Moody and Melton be enough? Even if they trade for KO, then they gotta make another trade to target a combo fare since Podz has completely disappeared
Olynik is a better version of Beljica. Honestly aside from him being injured it makes the most sense to me. He will shoot and pass and help Kuminga a metric ton. Moreso than Schroder if there is a one for one CBA-able move that makes sense it’s this Olynyk (or RW3). Alot of people hate Olynik he is an unlikable opposing player but a solid piece to have on any squad.
I’m still partial to trying to keep Melton on a value for the next few seasons if nothing emerges as a super obvious move but appreciate cashing in the upside of this season.

Man idk. A lot of guys tailor-made for the Warrior system end up making their way to the team way too late. This feels like it could be Saric 2.0. Would have loved if this was move was made like 3-5 years ago.

We’re looking for any upgrade on 2 or 5 by the deadline. Timelord or Smart would be nice. Sixers is also a team to watch. There is a chance they would shop their players around in case there is a fall through with their stars.
John Collins should be someone we target
I just donāt see the Raps moving Olynyk considering they just dealt real assets for him and extended him, in part because they desperately need a shooting big to make Scottie Barnes lineups work. So I think the only deal theyād do would ultimately be a huge overpay and not worth it on the Dubsā end.

same with robert williams who has never been healthy and has had like 3-4 major knee injuries

I’m honestly asking those of you in the Paint Presence/Big Body Camp what you’re seeing that I’m not: Over 14 games, the Dubs are one of the best rebounding teams in the league and a +58 vs. their opponents in Points in the Paint….do you honestly think the missing piece of the roster is a Gobert like presence in the middle to provide shot blocking? Yes, it would be nice to have Brook Lopez who can defend and shoot from deep (or ya know, Wemby), but there aren’t many of those guys out there….let alone at $12.8 M.
Nic Calxton or Cam John son if we’re willing to throw more for them.

No no no fuck no. The absence of Melton has shown that we don’t have an athletic guard/wing, apart from Wiggs and JK. We really missed JK against the Spurs, we have to have a 3rd player who can guard and shoot.
Once again, the problem is not at Center – we held Wemby to 13 points near the end of the 3rd quarter – Draymond and TJD bottled him up brilliantly for 3 quarters – Wemby came into the game averaging 34 in his last 4 games iirc. Dray just ran out of gas in the 4th quarter, but all game we had no answer for their young guards/wings.
Ok…..but we were +16 in the Paint and +6 rebounding against the Celtics. I know without Porzingis, but still, that’s a team that kills you from the outside, not the inside. We matched up well against the Clippers in terms of paint numbers and lost twice…..what good would another big have done ? My point is: we need a bench Point Guard or legit starting 2 guard WAAAAY worse than we need another big right now
