Turnovers cost Red Wings game against Bruins | Montgomery hired in St. Louis

The effort was there, but the execution was not. Detroit combined for 26(!) giveaways against Boston, effectively costing them the game. Special teams also no-showed, allowing a power-play goal and going 0/4 on their own. Cam Talbot was solid in the loss though, as tends to be the trend. Lucas Raymond scored the lone goal for the Red Wings as he begins to heat up. Jim Montgomery has been hired in St. Louis. #LGRW

  1. We are in Nov, still a lot of hockey to be played, but the way the Wings are playing sucks. And, a trade to help with scoring? Fischer, a hitter, for a past MVP with 2 goals. That really helps to get to playoff hockey. They are treating this team like the old Olympia, just put a fresh coat of paint on the inside and it will be okay! NOT

  2. The turnovers are not the problem, the problem is THIS TEAM CAN"T SCORE! Yzerman, LaLonde and about half of the roster must go. They skate in quicksand and they have outlawed body checks. Yikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. So here is my take on the turnovers. Number 1 changing the lines every game. Number 2 the players and coaching style are not in sync probably because the players actually want to win games. Number 3 Detroits passing isn’t superb to begin with. Number 4 seider and edvisson are taking the brunt of the defensive metrics with edvisson being a rookie pretty much he will make some bad passes. Keep in mind Lalonde prefers petry over Johansson. Fast young kid that might make mistakes as a rookie or slow old guy that will make mistakes with his walking cane

  4. You cannot win a game with 14 turnovers in the 3rd period. No passion on or off the ice. Post game interviews say it all. Lalonde, at least publicly, has absolutely no leadership skills. Need some fire in the belly

  5. Couple things here. Kane's age, I think, is finally catching up with him. He has lost a step, and while it's disappointing, is it really all that unexpected? Two… Talbot has been a very bright spot. I didn't want Gibson because he's old, and while Talbot is an upgrade over him, I was still somewhat disappointed when we signed him. But he's been great, all things considered. As a bonus, I've said since the start of this mediocre season that if Lalonde is fired, it'll be in the summer. While I'd love to see Stevie have a line of guys waiting to take coaching spots, I think we're more likely to see wholesale changes in April rather than now. We need changes from head coach to professional scouts, penalty kill, all the way down the line. PP is good, goaltending is decent for who we have, but Lalonde shouldn't be the only one in the firing line.

  6. You guys don't know "suffering" as you put it. We are not the Maple Loafs. They've been re-building for another cup since 1967. Just relax. We'll be in the playoffs this year.

  7. "Doing the same thing over and over is the pure definition of insanity." We lose because of poor coaching, then we win one and everybody says, "Hey, we can do this…" until the next loss. If Lalonde stays, we end April with 65 points or less. If he goes and soon, we might be able to scratch our way in and maybe even do well in the first round. Lalonde's system will not work. We're wasting talent, we're wasting good players. Or we're trading them off. The die hard Yzerplan people keep waiting for the rainbow to appear. Not to beat this is in, but Ghost and Walman are scoring or assisting like crazy. Tarasenko is a slug. Kaspar and Mo are getting wasted, Kapsar is a time bomb waiting to go off, but the Lalondeplan keep peeing on the timer. Hull and Charot are not the same caliber as Ghost and Walman. Maybe we could pick up Callaway as a sponsor. We'll need em in May.

  8. Besides Lalonde you have Petry, Holl, and Chiarot boat anchors. Veleno and Ras are doing nothing and I think that they have trade value, but I don't trust Yzerman to get a good return. Time to sweep up and try to save the evolving good draft picks that we had.

  9. I think it’s funny. The biggest mistake and failure by yzerman isn’t copp or Holl or Husso they all can be explained. His biggest failure is Lalonde. I mean with a good coach. Holl and Husso would never even play right now lol. They would only affect salary cap. Lalonde can’t make a line to save his life. At least not completely. He might get a few lines right then fuck up the other ones.

  10. Part of the reason Cat scored under 30 goals last year is his new focus on the defensive side of things. He was leaps and bounds better defensively last year than any before that, and is doing it again this year while still being one of our best offensive forwards. Would love to see him crack 30 this year, though.
