Why does Jiricek keep coming up? Isn't he down with the Monsters in the AHL? If CBJ doesn't want him as a regular why would the Oilers?

I don't think the goaltenders are the issue, has stu not playing good consistent no but, the blue line had to make sure that the goaltenders can see the puck, cause when the blue line is doing what they need to do, then goaltending is going to be good
Picard has had one good year. Pundits talk reversion to the mean when it fits their narrative, but not so much when it doesn't. I'm not saying he's going to revert for sure, but this team is trying to win a cup. Putting Connor's legacy on the chance that Skinner is not going to get hurt or be in a bad patch and Picard is not going to play like he has played for the last 5 years (meh) is a hugely shaky call to make.
It doesn't matter if you're not getting 3x the value out of Picard because ultimate value not comparative value is what counts. If the Oilers' only goal was to win an award for having better goaltending than if they hadn't traded for Gibson, then the 3x thing would matter. Other arguments? Go ahead.
Also you'd have to find a way to dump Picard, so that's 1M less money and now, in your scenario, Gibson would have to be 2x better, just for the record. Pundits gonna pundit (fit the details to follow the idea)

Stupid discussion. Gibson? How should the Oil fit 6,4m cap and that for 2 more years? For a average goalie.
