Seriously impressive. While in college in Milwaukee, I went to 114 Bucks home games in a row. Somewhere in that span, the PA guy was out for a week, and the games just had a weird feel. I guess it’s understated how important a good PA guy is to the atmosphere
Rizzuto from the Point was the backup man at one point. He tells a pretty good story about getting the call one day to come to the rink, because Tom was under the weather, or having a procedure done and wasn’t going to make it. Rizzuto said he went through all the game day preparations, and an hour or two before game time, Tom Calhoun walks in and the room erupted in applause. The streak lives on lol.
What a legend. I take it for granted that he has been the PA announcer my entire life (I’m 35) and is one of the best in the business.
Tom’s great. He’s also the PA guy at the Gateway Grizzlies over in Sauget and does a great job there
1700 games…that’s absolutely insane.
Let’s make some noise tonight!
On Thursday night during the Sharks game, they gave him a shout-out and showed him on the big screen while the crowd applauded. He got a little teary eyed, it was very heartwarming to see in person. What a Blues legend.
