I don’t want to hear about injuries. We’ve rooted for teams with John Kitna as our QB and believed we would win division games against clearly better teams.

A lot of us have rolled over and handed the Packers the win and keep talking about how much good Philly is.

The best record in the league is in Detroit.
11-1.

That 11-1 record owns tie breakers against GB, MIN & PHI. If those 3 teams don’t win out, they don’t get the One Seed or the division even if the Lions lose two games.

Funny thing is, MIN & GB play. Both play a Bears team a lot of you have decided can also beat the Lions. Funny thing is regardless of the fact that Jared Goff has a better winning %, more fourth quarter comebacks and a higher clutch rating – you’ve chosen to believe in Love, Darnold and Hurts more.

Despite the fact that this team won TWELVE games last year with a horrible defense, we now believe the offense isn’t good enough to carry the load regardless of the 30PPG average.

The sky is falling and it’s always, “We have to play them and we have to play there I’m worried and I think we’re gonna lose.”

But you have to remember that those MFs have to play THE BRAND NEW LIONS. Get a fucking grip everyone and don’t count a loss until it’s a loss because no one in the damn locker room feels sad and feels like they’re going to lose. MCDC & BDBJ about to do work.

  1. I’m believing in the Lions, but this is rarified air for us, no? Also, I wish our defense was as healthy as our offense.

  2. You’re describing SOL syndrome, there are thousands of people who don’t understand what a good football team is or what winning in this league looks like. Majority of them are found in the game day thread.

  3. I am an educated football man. I’ve read the art of smart football. I did not go to school for math. Can someone explain the tie breakers and why the Lions can lose 2 of those 3 don’t win out?

  4. Cool, I don’t think anyone relevant is saying the lions can’t win the games. It’s more the confidence of going 16-1 has gone down with the lions having the most injuries in the league and over double our division rivals.

Yes we can all pretend like injuries don’t matter and the lions will never lose another game. Else we can be realistic and instead think our infallible team has some chinks in the armor and prepare ourselves for what the team will look like going forward.

Fans can be something besides just Debbie Downers or delusional fans. I also ignore the obvious bandwagon fans who have opinions that go in and out on the team like the ocean.

  5. Because I’ve grown up at the hands of a man who has been watching the Lions since the 60’s. He has been hurt too many times, and frankly, so have I. Like a dog rescued from an abusive situation, I want to believe so badly, but I’ve been hurt so many times, I’ve been conditioned this way. It is how I survive.

  6. The offense hasn’t been as prolific the last couple of games. Injuries have piled up.

Shit happens during a season. Some adversity is good for character building.

    Doesn’t mean they can’t win….

  7. Why do people think this might happen?  Let me answer my rhetorical question over a wall of text and say in the first sentence that I will be ignoring the objectively valid reason everyone cites.

  8. Not me, I’m still on the bandwagon and am waiting with bated breath for the FTP to be eliminated from the playoffs so I can throw a fucking lemon meringue pie in the face of Peter Schrager, who has been anti Lions and pro anybody who are not the Lions since MCDC took over the helm.

PS, I know I shouldn’t care about a talking head but Schrager in particular has been especially spiteful towards the Lions, it’s weird.

  9. In my 38 years of life and as a Detroit native. 7 Mile n mound rd to be exact. I’ve never seen a lions team this damn good. Ima ride wit em til the wheels fall off. Fnck every other team. Period. Detroit-vs-Everybody

  10. I’ve been hurt by this team every year of my life for my first 30 years. This is the first time they’ve been good. So excuse me for not healing a life of trauma in a fucking snap of the fingers.

This is uncharted territory. I don’t have the proper tools or experiences to be able to navigate this situation so it’s only human nature for me to fall back to what I know.

  11. Also, I just want to remind you that GB or MIN will eliminate themselves because they have to play and a tie or a loss would remove one or both of them from a real shot of the division unless DET was to lose four games (ain’t no fucking way).

So they’ll beat on each other and let that rest your little head.

  12. Most of us believe, but aren’t used to that idea

It’s been decades, generations since we had a winning team. Cut us some slack

  13. Who is this post even aimed at, Lions fans that don’t think the team is good? Not sure they exist

  14. I think we can and will win. The offense is still in pretty decent shape, they will need to carry the load and be efficient in the redzone

  15. I believe in our team. I also believe that any team we are playing that has our record affect there playoff chances know the more future injuries we suffer the better their chances are. I expect to see more dirty hits.

  16. The first season i watched every lions game was 08. Since then every year was going to be our year till we became the same ol lions. But I have never once wavered in my faith that we will become the lions that were in my heart. As long as MCDC is our coach I have the utmost faith every year is our to win it all. I will never not believe we can turn it around and win the super bowl. Im in this shit and standing with this team for fucking life. I LOVE THE LIONS.

  17. I’m hoping that we smash this Packers team with our hobbled defense so that they finally have no excuses

  18. Ive posted this a few times. People need validation for their opinions.

So if i go and think “DJ Reader was a bad signing” and then he plays well but has a bad game… i go on reddit and say “yall i was right that DJ reader was a bad signing” in hopes that random strangers will upvote me and congratulate me on my take.

They did this with Decker despite both film / third party data showing hes not having his greatest season ever but hes still good / very good at what he does.

Btw i do not think that about Reader^

  19. Hope. It is the only thing stronger than fear. A little hope is effective. A lot of hope is dangerous. A spark is fine, as long as it’s contained.

  20. Bro. What? Ain’t nobody saying any of this shit.

You must’ve read like one comment thread and then wrote a whole ass essay. Get a grip buddy.

LIONS OR BUST FUCK EVERYONE ELSE

  21. I’m so tired of people demanding fans be in a certain headspace. “One game at a time” “don’t give up” “be realistic” it doesn’t matter at all where the fanbases head is at haha

  22. Appreciate the hype and keeping things in perspective.

But look, for me I am worried only about 2 objectives for this team:

    1. 1 seed and first-round bye
    2. Super Bowl

In my mind, it becomes much harder to accomplish #2 without having #1 especially with how banged up we are. Thats just a fact. Our guys need a chance to get healthy on defense and its hard to relax when Philly and Minnesota just wont go away.

I’m not a SOL fan or a bandwagoner. As a guy born in Lansing in the early 90s, Ive seen all of the shit….but the fact is were not out of the woods yet. We’re close, but far from being able to relax when were trotting Vildor and Dorsey out there right now.
